About Me Hello! I am a 12-year-old boy with an intellectual disability, I am looking for friendly Youth Workers to assist me in achieving my goals. I would like a youth worker that is engaging and will play Lego with me. The Role An Opportunity is available to join my team of wonderful youth workers who help to facilitate my daily life. My youth workers assist me on a 1:1 throughout the day. Due to some of the challenges I face, I can engage in yelling/verbal aggression. In this instance I would like you to ask me if there is something that I might need as this can be my way of communicating that some of my needs are not being met. As I have a language disorder speaking is sometimes hard for me so I need a youth worker who is patient and will help me to understand what it is that I might be wanting. I am seeking a Youth Worker who is wanting to join a team environment, passionate about all things Lego and Mario, these are my two biggest interests, I would like a youth worker that is willing to sit down in a quiet space with me and help me build my Lego. I have also recently picked up an interest in cyber security so would like assistance to learn more about this subject through books and YouTube videos. I am also looking for assistance with personal care and transport to community outings on weekends and to school. Key responsibilities: Assist me with ADL’s Personal care Manual Handling In home activities such as cooking and transporting me to school and appointments Support me to achieve my goals to reach my potential in all facets of my life. Support my life skill development through proper implementation of established plans and programs to support the achievement of goal outcomes for me. Actively engage in person centred active support. Maintain accurate records. Shifts I am looking for someone to support me on a casual basis The ideal candidate will have: NDIS Worker Screening or DHS Disability related check Current Driver's Licence Current First Aid Certificate Current CPR Certificate IV, Diploma in Child, youth & family intervention/youth work or equivalent About you I am looking for a Patient and positive youth worker who is keen to take an active role in my everyday life, ideally you will enjoy a variety of sports and will be happy to play basketball and football with me outside as well as play on the trampoline with me. You will also enjoy video games and are happy to support me with community outings on the weekends and to school each day. Cooking is very important to me as a budding chef I am always looking for new recipes to cook in the kitchen, so I am looking forward to learning what your signature dish is and cook it with you. Other requirements: Experience in working with people who have experience with high behaviours of concerns and a history of childhood trauma. Ability to implement individualised developmental programs. Experience implementing positive behaviour support strategies. Flexible working hours. Experience in various models of support preferred.
