  • How does the role impact the organization?
  • Raymond James is seeking a Bilingual Vice President, Business Development to join our Montreal office. This role is a key driver of strategic growth for the Private Client Group (PCG) and is responsible for executing expansion initiatives in alignment with the direction set by the Senior Vice President, Growth and Development at Raymond James Ltd.
  • The Vice President, Business Development will lead the recruitment of high-performing Financial Advisors and advisory teams, directly supporting the firm’s long-term growth strategy. This individual will be accountable for proactively identifying, attracting, and managing relationships with high quality candidates, while delivering best-in-class experience throughout the recruitment and transition process.
  • Reporting to the SVP, Growth and Development, and collaborating closely with the national Growth and Development and Investment Counsel teams, this role is responsible for driving results through sales-focused business development strategies, building strong relationships, and expanding the firm’s advisor network.
  • What will your role be responsible for?
  • Stay informed on industry trends, developments, and news; gather competitive intelligence from multiple sources and analyze data to generate insights, identify opportunities, and make strategic recommendations.
  • Recommend programs, solutions, or enhancements that support organizational goals while aligning with Raymond James’ culture and long-term growth objectives.
  • Identify, attract, and engage high-performing Financial Advisors and advisory teams, building strong relationships and delivering a best-in-class candidate experience throughout the recruitment process.
  • Lead relationships with candidates to guide them through the recruitment process, ensuring a seamless and engaging experience.
  • Execute sales-oriented business development plans to expand the firm’s advisor network, market presence, and overall growth.
  • Maintain a robust pipeline of prospective advisors, leveraging industry knowledge, personal networks, and market intelligence to drive recruitment and conversion.
  • Lead complex negotiations with prospective advisors and advisory teams, including compensation structures, transition terms, and partnership arrangements, to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes.
  • Negotiation is a significant and ongoing requirement of this role, requiring advanced influencing skills and the ability to navigate high-stakes discussions with senior-level stakeholders.
  • Record and maintain all pipeline activity in the CRM and provide regular reporting to the Growth and Development management team.
  • Work closely with the national Growth and Development and Investment Counsel teams, to implement targeted growth initiatives and ensure alignment across recruitment priorities and advisor integration.
  • Develop and manage relationships and communications with high quality recruits, fostering trust and position Raymond James as a preferred employer.
  • Help identify campaigns and marketing opportunities to share Raymond James’ story and promote our competitive offering to prospects.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned to support the team and organizational objectives.

  • What do we expect from you?
  • Proficiency in French and English is required.
  • 5 -10 years’ experience in financial services sales, advisor recruiting or wholesaling in wealth management.
  • Demonstrated negotiation expertise required, including the ability to structure, negotiate, and close complex agreements with senior-level stakeholders.
  • Proven track record of building and managing relationships with high-performing Financial Advisors and advisory teams.
  • Experience engaging in client and advisor entertainment, including prospecting, meetings, and relationship-building activities.
  • Ability to work autonomously, across stakeholder groups;
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and facilitation skills and ability to manage, foster and grow constituent relationships.
  • Rigor, integrity and proven ability to handle confidential information with tact and discretion.
  • Strong understanding of Independent and Investment Counsel Financial Advisor business practices, across CIRO and MFDA.
  • Travel up to 25%25 throughout Canada

  • Salary Range: $140,000 - 150,000 annually, in addition to competitive performance bonuses/incentives.
  • Actual compensation will be determined based on skills, experience, internal equity, and other job requirements.
