In partnership with Metrolinx, ACCIONA is playing a key role in the design and construction of the Eglinton Crosstown West Extension (ECWE), a 9.2-kilometre westward addition to Toronto’s Line 5 light rail transit network. This major infrastructure project includes seven new stations and installation of rail and systems under a progressive design-build model. Beyond its technical scope, the ECWE project represents a significant investment in sustainable urban mobility, expected to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 5,800 tonnes annually and eliminate over 6.5 million vehicle trips each year when combined with the full Line 5. Job Description The Traffic Control Construction Coordinator will be responsible for executing the Master Traffic Management Plan and its sub-plans. This includes responsibility for undertaking traffic engineering assignments, coordinating with in-house (Contractor), coordinating with the Traffic Supervisor and third party (subcontractor) personnel. Key Responsibilities: Prepare technical reports and presentations. Ensure the safety of traffic in the surrounding areas. Oversee and support on different stages of traffic implementation. Working with stakeholders such as the province specifications to ensure any modifications to traffic plans are approved. Ensures documentation related to traffic management is in line with Project Agreement. Ability to plan and manage traffic plans. Coordinate the preparation of design drawings and tender documents. Coordinating with construction teams for any construction activities that require traffic staging plans and traffic control plans. Understanding the construction requirements and constraints and prepare traffic staging plans based on the information provided. Coordinating with traffic design consultants for the preparation of temporary traffic staging plans and traffic control plans. Managing immediate traffic designers/coordinators for preparation of temporary traffic staging plans and traffic control plans. Preparation of temporary traffic staging plans, and traffic control plans in accordance with the needs of construction teams. Coordinating with communication department on upcoming works. Addressing any site issues and deficiencies. Responding to inquiries from the Province, Municipalities, transit providers and other stakeholders regarding traffic management questions. Presenting design issues and solutions to the Province, Municipalities, transit providers and other stakeholders regarding traffic management questions and strategies Participating in traffic staging and traffic control implementation on site, either during daytime or night time hours Design, analysis, and simulation of vehicles turning paths/maneuverers where applicable. Liaising with the Province, Municipalities and their transit providers, and other stakeholders, as required. Monitoring queue lengths in active Site and implementing appropriate measures when such queues affect the operation and safety of existing transit services, existing Municipal roads, and other provincial and Municipal roadways. Monitoring and raising operational performance issues to the Traffic Manager and Transportation Management Committee. Assist Traffic Supervisors in preparing purchase orders, needs request, ordering of traffic control personnel and equipment. Assist Traffic Supervisors in coordinating with procurement department Assist Traffic Supervisors in scanning all FLRA’s and filing paperwork Required Skills and Competencies Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Traffic Coordinator on complex projects preferably in urban environments Demonstrates independence, accountability on construction projects specifically related to traffic An ability to design traffic control plans based on a description of the scope of construction work. Skilled in AutoCAD, AutoTurn, and any other traffic management design software Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Self-motivated with a high degree of integrity, honesty and ethics, and client service orientation. Strong Organizational skills. Excellent communication skills – interpersonal, written & presentation Proven work experience as a Project Coordinator or similar role. Solid organizational skills, including multitasking and time-management. Strong management-facing and teamwork skills. Familiarity with reporting and being compliant with directions. Self-motivated, innovative, committed, and honest. Strong interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills. Attention to detail and ability to see the bigger picture.
