Technical Writer – Installation & Service Manuals (HVAC / Refrigeration) Industry: Commercial Refrigeration (Walk-In Coolers & Freezers) Job Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented Technical Writer to develop clear, accurate, and professional documentation for our walk-in cooler and walk-in freezer systems. This role will be responsible for creating installation manuals, service guides, troubleshooting documentation, and visual diagrams to support installers, technicians, and customers. Key Responsibilities Develop and maintain installation manuals for walk-in coolers and freezers Create technical documentation including: Operation manuals Maintenance and service guides Troubleshooting and repair instructions Produce or coordinate visual diagrams, schematics, and step-by-step illustrations for: Installation workflows Electrical and mechanical components Common failure scenarios and fixes Translate complex technical information into clear, easy-to-understand content for technicians and end users Work closely with engineering, installation, and service teams to ensure technical accuracy Standardize documentation format, terminology, and branding across all manuals Update documentation based on product changes, field feedback, and regulatory requirements Ensure documentation complies with safety standards and industry best practices Required Skills & Qualifications Proven experience as a Technical Writer, preferably in HVAC, refrigeration, mechanical, or industrial equipment Strong ability to write step-by-step technical instructions Experience creating or working with diagrams, schematics, and visuals (e.g., Visio, Illustrator, CAD exports, or similar tools) Excellent written communication and attention to detail Ability to understand mechanical, electrical, and refrigeration systems Experience documenting installation, troubleshooting, and repair processes Preferred Qualifications Background in commercial refrigeration or HVAC systems Familiarity with walk-in coolers and freezers Experience creating service manuals for field technicians Knowledge of safety standards and installation codes Deliverables Complete installation manuals Troubleshooting & repair guides Maintenance documentation Visual diagrams and reference materials Customer- and technician-friendly documentation sets
