- AECOM is actively seeking an experienced Senior Energy Modeler/Planner to join our High Performance Buildings + Communities team. This position could be based anywhere in Canada.
Job Summary/Responsibilities
- The Energy Planner’s role is to apply their expertise in building and infrastructure systems and energy analysis to the development of energy master plans and decarbonization plans for cities, agencies, campuses, and governments in the US and across the world. This position is ideal for someone who is passionate about decarbonizing the built environment and wants to broaden their influence in enabling this transition.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to
- Leading the development of community- and portfolio-level energy strategies, looking at, but not limited to: energy and water conservation, onsite generation and storage, district energy, microgrids, infrastructure resilience, and monitoring and control systems.
- Technical assessment of building/campus energy demand and potential supply strategies using a combination of modeling, proprietary analysis tools, and the development of customized tools.
- Contribution to proposals and the management of small- to medium-sized projects
- Stakeholder engagement, such as conducting interviews and facilitating charettes and workshops
- Preparing and presenting results and professional recommendations, in report or presentation format, to clients and teams.
- Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree required in Engineering, Building Sciences or a related field
- 8 years' experience working in the energy or sustainable design sector
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Masters' degree preferred in engineering, planning, or sustainability-related field
- Additional certifications/licenses e.g. PE, CEM, LEED AP, ENV SP
- Experience of energy or utilities master planning
- Experience in the assessment of distributed generation assets (solar PV, battery energy storage, etc.)
- Experience with energy codes and standards
- Excellent written, graphical, and verbal communication skills
- Strong problem-solving, analytical and research skills
- Willingness to travel up to 20% of the time
- Ability to balance various project and company responsibilities and deadlines, while maintaining professionalism and quality
- Adaptable and flexible, showing a willingness and ability to take on new projects or areas with or without supervision, as required
- Knowledge and experience using Microsoft Office Suite, and in particular, Excel for data analytics
