About

  • About KOHO
  • We’re on a mission to make financial services better for every Canadian. That means no hidden fees, no predatory interest rates - just financial products designed to help our users spend smart, save more, and build real wealth. We’re a performance organization with a strong heart: we care deeply about outcomes, and everything ties back to our mission - to financially empower a generation of Canadians.
  • At KOHO, we’re not your average 9-5. We believe real impact comes from people who are trusted, empowered, and supported to do their best work - without sacrificing their lives to do it. We prioritize work-life integration, not just work-life balance. That means asynchronous collaboration, flexible hours, and a remote-first setup built around autonomy and high trust.
  • KOHO is entering its next chapter - leaner, smarter, more AI-integrated. We’re building for impact, not bureaucracy. If you thrive in environments that value clarity, ownership, and bold thinking, you’ll fit right in.
  • We’re looking for a Staff Developer - Solver Archetype to join our Credit domain! Reporting to our Senior Manager, Technology, you will be a key individual contributor tasked with tackling our most complex and ambiguous technical challenges within the Credit space. You will dive deep into critical problems related to our lending products—such as our new Credit Card, Credit Building, and Cover—which may span multiple systems or fall between team domains. This is an exciting opportunity to make a significant, high-impact contribution as we build and scale our credit offerings, paving the way for other teams to build robust, long-term solutions.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • You’ll be diving into our most ambiguous and difficult technical problems, from investigating issues in our loan management and collections systems to designing solutions for new credit product features.
  • You’ll work to contain and stabilize critical issues, developing initial proofs-of-concept to resolve immediate challenges in our credit technology stack, which includes services for lending, collections, and bureau reporting.
  • You’ll hand off stabilized systems and initial solutions—like the foundational workflows for our credit card lifecycle—to the owning teams to build out long-term, polished implementations.
  • You’ll act as a force multiplier by unblocking teams, fixing intricate issues in brittle systems, and sharing your deep technical knowledge across the Credit domain.
  • Who You Are
  • You are a strong individual contributor who excels at solving complex problems with simple, effective solutions.
  • You have a deep understanding of system architecture and technology stacks, allowing you to effectively diagnose and resolve issues in unfamiliar or brittle systems.
  • You thrive on tackling hard problems, from stabilizing a service during a firefight to building a foundational library from scratch.
  • You possess strong collaboration and communication skills, enabling you to hand off work cleanly and mentor other developers without causing resentment.
  • You embrace AI-powered development workflows and have experience with tools like Claude Code or other AI coding assistants.
  • What’s in it for you?
