Are you a seasoned expert in defense, security, and AI? We are looking for a Special Advisor Senior to join a government organization and provide critical support for a new division focused on delivering operationally aligned algorithmic warfare capabilities to the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF).
We need someone with proven experience in:
- Developing AI or machine learning solutions for operational problems.
- Managing data or digital applications that support decision-making.
- Coordinating large-scale digital transformation initiatives.

Responsibilities
- Provide strategic guidance on organizational design, talent acquisition, and phased implementation for the new division.
- Draft and validate a Concept of Operations (CONOP) that defines the division's operating environment, tasking processes, and team composition.
- Participate in operational planning, including developing support models, student engagement programs, and AI talent strategies.
- Advise on onboarding strategies to ensure new hires understand internal structures and operational priorities.
- Offer experience-based insights on establishing digital-focused organizations within defence and security environments, with a focus on agility and operational alignment.
- Provide support for analyzing commercial AI products and vendors, as well as developing digital and AI procurement strategies.
Qualifications
- Valid Secret level Security clearance
- Able to work on-site in Ottawa, ON (Nepean Area)
- Experience working directly in a defence or security sector, conducting operations, command and control, and planning.
- Providing leadership and technical development for AI or machine learning solutions for operational problems.
- Product management of data or digital applications that support operational decision-making.
- Planning, implementing, and coordinating intradepartmental operational digital transformation initiatives.
- Knowledge of AI talent acquisition and development strategies is a key asset.
- The ideal candidate will have experience-based insights into the standup of digital-focused organizations within a defence and security environment, with an emphasis on agility, credibility, and operational alignment.
