We are currently looking for a Shipping Receiving Packing role to join our busy and growing manufacturing facility. The successful candidate will be engaged in elevating the Anodizing department and company to the next level. The incumbent will be forward looking and thrive in a culture of continuous improvement.

Reporting directly to the Supply Chain Manager, the role of Shipping/Receiving/Packing will provide functions within shipping and receiving as well as provide general support of assigned functions within the Paint/Pressure Body Assembly/Packing department. This role provides back-up support to the Logistics and Customs Coordinator role.

Key Job Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Receive and inspect all items from external vendors and customers, verify packing slip, quantity and enter into Navision and distribute to correct department for inspection with proper paperwork and labelling
  • Pack all Romet meters and parts for shipment. Prepare boxes, inspect, pack, label boxes and attach proper paperwork for each shipment
  • Work daily with Logistics & Customs Coordinator to schedule shipments, set shipping dates and meet all shipping dates and deadlines. Provide details on shipment weight, and dimensions
  • Provide back-up coverage to the Logistics & Customs Coordinator
  • Operate forklift or pump truck to load and unload all products entering or leaving the company, as necessary
  • Maintain inventory of shipping and maintenance supplies such as boxes, pallets, glue, tape, paint, and certain screws. Notify Purchasing when stock is low
  • Driver backup for small parts—pickup and drop off
  • Organize pickup/delivery schedule for driver and prepare proper paperwork as needed for each delivery or pickup
  • Organize return of scrap to vendors
  • Assist and be backup to the painter
  • Mask meters for painting
  • Badge meters: Read customer spec drawings, stamp, and wire as necessary
  • Support the Assembly department
  • Assemble module cover, plug, and window when needed
  • Pressure test covers and tubes when needed
  • Maintain full screw and part boxes for meter assembly
  • Sort, wash, send and receive parts for assembly for heat treating, black-oxide and grinding
  • Housekeeping as required
  • All other duties as assigned

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Ability to perform repetitive heavy lifting
  • Able to communicate both verbally and in writing
  • Basic mathematical skills
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record
  • Ability to weigh and measure items
  • Working knowledge of safe lifting methods
  • Demonstrated ability to operate material handling equipment including forklift truck
  • Able to work efficiently as a part of a team as well as independently
  • Computer literacy, including working skills of Excel and e-mail
  • Attention to detail in all areas of work
  • Good organizational, time management and prioritizing skills
  • Strong work ethic and positive team attitude

Educational/Experience Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Forklift certification preferred
  • 3 years’ experience in the shipping industry preferred
  • Working experience in Shipping and Receiving role preferred
  • Problem solving and Root Cause Analysis training and experience
  • Lean Manufacturing training and experience an asset
