About

Education: College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years. or equivalent experience. Work site environment: Noisy. Dusty. Odours. Hot. Work setting: Metal product fabrication industry. Tasks: Calculate heating and cooling loads. Read blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine work requirements . Measure and mark sheet metal according to template. Prepare tenders and quotations. Operate metalworking machines to cut, punch, drill, shape or straighten sheet metal. Operate laser cutters. Inspect products to ensure quality and conformity to specification. Develop computerized pattern and layout. Operate CADD and other computer software systems. Select and transport material to work area manually or using crane or hoist. Remove metal pieces from furnace when colour or metal indicates proper forging temperature. Read and interpret specifications or follow verbal instructions. Position and adjust dies on anvil of forging machinery. Position heated or cooled metal pieces on die of press or other forging machinery. Place metal pieces in furnace. Operate presses or other forging machines to perform hot or cold forging to shape or form metal. Operate machines or equipment which weld, solder, bolt, screw or rivet metal parts together. Operate gas or oil fired furnace to heat metal to proper temperatures prior to forging. Use computer numerical control (CNC) machines. Check products for correct shapes, dimensions and other specifications. Lay out, set up and operate one or more light or heavy metalworking machines. Document work completed. Cut, bend, roll, ream, punch, drill, weld or otherwise shape and form metal stock into parts or products. Computer and technology knowledge: AutoCAD. Mining equipment: Cutting machine. Equipment and machinery experience: Soldering or welding equipment. Shears. Punch presses. Power presses. Lifting device. Forging press. Metal forming or shaping operations experience: Punching. Forming. Drawing. Bending. Metal twisting. Security and safety: Criminal record check. Transportation/travel information: Own transportation. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Fast-paced environment. Physically demanding. Manual dexterity. Attention to detail. Hand-eye co-ordination. Standing for extended periods. Bending, crouching, kneeling. Handling heavy loads. Tight deadlines. Work under pressure. Repetitive tasks. Weight handling: Up to 23 kg (50 lbs). Own tools/equipment: Steel-toed safety boots.
