• Key Responsibilities
• Develop and implement security policies, controls, and technical standards across company internal systems, development teams, and production customer applications.
• Identify and assess security risks; drive mitigation strategies and control adoption
• Contribute to the investigation and resolution of security incidents, including detection, containment, and recovery
• Conduct security assessments and contribute to audits to ensure compliance with frameworks like CIS and SOC 2
• Design and manage security tooling, including intrusion detection, centralized logging, and improvements to endpoint protection programs.
• Collaborate with IT and Engineering to embed security into systems architecture and software delivery processes
• Continuously monitor evolving threats, tools, best practices, and cybersecurity trends
• Provide security mentorship and guidance to teams, developers, and stakeholders.

• REQUIREMENTS
• The skills required for this role -
• You have 5-8 years in security related engineering roles
• You have experience with threat modeling, risk assessment, and vulnerability management
• You are versed in security incident detection, investigation, and response
• You have experience with log aggregation and threat detection using centralized monitoring platforms like SIEM, datadog, splunk
• You have experience with WAF management & secure network design (firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs)
• You have experience with automation and scripting with Python, Bash, or equivalent
• You have effective written and verbal communication with technical and non-technical teams
• You are experienced with analytical thinking and problem-solving under pressure
• You are comfortable collaborating with cross-functional and non-technical teams on security initiatives
• Bonus points -
• You have experience with security audits and certification processes (e.g., SOC 2 Type I/II, ISO 27001)
• You have experience with or direct exposure to regulatory compliance standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, PCI DSS)
• You have exposure to security in SaaS, fintech, or regulated environments
• You have hands-on experience with Cloudflare WAF or AWS Shield
• You come from a family of small business owners.

• Market range for this role at North One is $130,000 - $150,000 CAD
