Role Description
As a Senior Postgres/MySQL Database Administrator in Transcarent’s cloud tooling team, you will become subject matter expert for various AWS cloud data storage services administration, build the framework to define the infrastructure as code, contribute to building the internal cloud platform to enable other engineers to create and deploy their applications and services quickly and efficiently.
- Manage the shared MySQL and Postgres database clusters, keeping the database engine up to date, monitoring performance, and optimizing where possible.
- Work with development teams to troubleshoot database issues and provide support and fixes.
- Build and maintain shared AWS-based infrastructure powering company applications and services running on ECS, EKS, and Lambda platforms.
- Develop infrastructure as code automation platform using TypeScript and Python to automate AWS resource provisioning.
- Provide tooling, guidance, and consultation to engineering teams while mentoring junior engineers.
- Provide efficient support for engineer teams which do not have production sensitive data access.
- Develop cloud application resiliency enabling solutions and participate in on-call rotations for AWS infrastructure issues.
- Actively contribute as part of a globally distributed team using agile principles for self-organization and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of relevant experience in Software Engineering and Cloud Platform development roles.
- 4+ years of DBA experience, preferably in cloud environment data storage solution.
- Experience with distributed and cloud-based architecture patterns and best practices.
- Proven success in delivering new features to production.
- Expertise in database (AWS Aurora MySQL and Postgres) administration.
- Ability to troubleshoot database issues independently and work with development teams on remediations and prevention.
- Proficiency in cloud-based databases maintenance, upgrades, backup strategies, monitoring, and optimization of performance, resiliency, and security.
- Proficiency in AWS cloud infrastructure with a focus on serverless and containerized solutions and their orchestration (Kubernetes, ECS).
- Expertise in TypeScript or any static-typing programming languages.
- Experience with Python programming is highly desirable.
- Solid understanding of Cloudformation/CDK and Terraform Infrastructure as Code frameworks.
- Experience with building infrastructure automation and integrating these solutions into CI/CD pipelines.
- A team player with strong interpersonal skills who thrives in globally distributed environments.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with keen attention to detail.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to create supporting diagrams to explain complex topics.
- A self-driven professional with a passion for DevOps methodologies and agile principles.
- A bachelor’s degree in one of the engineering or science fields such as CS, Math, CE, EE or Physics is preferred.
