Reporting to the Global Payroll Manager within People Experience, the Senior Payroll Analyst will contribute to the successful payroll delivery and advisory for an assigned business portfolio. The incumbent will support bi-weekly/monthly payroll processing for salary and hourly employees (unionized and non-unionized), completion of annual statutory payroll compliance, payroll audits, and pension/benefit payroll deliverables. This is a 15-month contract role, offering an excellent opportunity to contribute to the team on a fixed term basis. Accountabilities: Review day-to-day payroll business transactions for respective pay regions to process payroll in line to meet vendors’ deadlines to ensure timely payment to employees while maintaining appropriate supporting documentation Balance payroll cycles Responsible for reconciliation of third-party reports and remittances for respective pay groups Support year-end payroll activities for assigned portfolio related to incentive payments, sourcing calculations, tax slips and other government reporting, RRSP deferrals, etc. Advise on various payroll portfolios in addition to the payrolls assigned to the analyst (Canada, US and International) to ensure proper coverage on the team Assist with audits (internal and external) by generating reports and investigating data to provide responses to queries Identify and own resolution of payroll regulatory risks by applying understanding of current industry practices Identify and resolve payroll issues and regulatory risks inhibiting payroll service delivery attributed to the HR calendar, system issues, third parties’ issues (e.g., government, courts of justice), or vendor issues Keep up to date with technical expertise and knowledge on existing and emerging payroll trends applicable to OMERS/Oxford Identify and participate in process improvement projects Develop and maintain strong working relationships with various HR departments and People Leaders Skills & Experience: Minimum of 3 years’ payroll experience (full cycle) preferably with Dayforce, SDWorx, Workday Undergraduate degree and PCP and/or PLP Certification Solid knowledge of payroll taxes and calculations for the various tax implications, including statutory, legislative and regulatory requirements Experience processing payroll in a unionized and non-unionized environment Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to multi-task under tight deadlines Strong interpersonal and time management skills for dealing with all employees within the organization Self-starter able to work independently with minimal supervision Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English As one of Canada’s largest defined benefit pension plans, our people-first culture is at its best when our workforce reflects the communities where we live and work — and the members we proudly serve.
