An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced policy and regulatory affairs professional to join ASX to lead regulatory engagement for a large technology program focused on ASX’s OTC and futures clearing platforms (the “ClearStar” program) and the Markets Trading Platforms Projects. This position provides a unique opportunity to play an important role in several of ASX’s highest priority projects to replace critical financial market infrastructure underpinning Australia’s financial system. Working closely with the leadership team for the Markets business on critical markets infrastructure projects, including the ClearStar Program and the Markets Trading Platforms Projects (ASX24 Platform Replacement; ASX Trading Platforms Network Replacement; and ASX Trade: SR15 R2), your role will involve leading regulatory engagement with ASIC and the RBA, and at times, international regulatory agencies (RBNZ, CFTC), in relation to these projects. Your Team You will be part of the projects arm of the central Regulatory Engagement Team within the Risk Division of ASX. However, your day-to-day work will involve working closely with leaders within the Markets business on the above-mentioned projects. Your responsibilities Working closely with the leadership team for the Markets business on critical markets infrastructure projects, including the ClearStar Program and the Markets Trading Platforms Projects (ASX24 Platform Replacement; ASX Trading Platforms Network Replacement; and ASX Trade: SR15 R2), your role will involve leading regulatory engagement with ASIC and the RBA, and at times, international regulatory agencies (RBNZ, CFTC), in relation to these projects. Driving timely engagement with ASX’s regulatory agencies in alignment with key project and program milestones for the above-mentioned projects to ensure timely and transparent communication of information in line with ASX’s Regulatory Engagement Policy and Regulatory Engagement Principles. Attending Strategic Steering Group project meetings and other project meetings as required to provide regulatory engagement guidance, thematics and updates. Proactively engage with the regulatory agencies to understand their information needs and expectations regarding areas of focus for engagement. Provide advice to the Markets Division leadership teams for the ClearStar program and the Markets Trading Platforms Projects on the: regulatory areas of focus of the agencies with respect to the above projects; and information to be provided to the regulatory agencies to ensure that material project developments and risks are communicated in a transparent and timely manner. The coordination of, and preparation for, meetings with the regulatory agencies including the development of appropriate meeting materials. Taking meeting notes of regulatory meetings and circulating action items arising from regulatory project meetings. Timely provision of key project and program documentation to the regulatory agencies, including the risks and issues register, third party reviews, stakeholder consultation documentation, and written responses to their questions. Contributing to Executive and Board reporting and Executive and Board briefings created by the central Regulatory Engagement Team to report on themes and regulatory areas of interest arising from the projects. Please note, this role may involve occasional work during weekends when regulatory agencies require updates during platform project go-live periods. Where this occurs time in lieu can be arranged with your manager. Must have Worked in senior roles within regulatory engagement/regulatory affairs and/or have experience working within a regulatory organisation. Experience in financial markets regulation and dealing with regulators in Australia or other jurisdictions. Experience in managing stakeholder engagement programs and large projects. Nice to have Experience in large regulatory change programs impacting both internal and external stakeholders. Experience operating in highly regulated environments. A strong understanding of the international regulatory landscape for financial market infrastructure.
