Job Description Overview We are seeking a Senior Inspector Highways and Bridges to join our transportation team to work and collaborate on projects related to highway, roadway and bridge construction. The successful candidate will report to the Contract Administration Lead. Our team is involved in Ministry of Transportation, York Region, Region of Peel, Durham Region, municipalities in Greater Toronto Area Road widening projects and provide inspection services on Lakeshore West Go expansion, and Ontario Power Generation. Provide construction inspection services for municipal clients and Ministry of Transportation Ontario. Provide engineering support to other disciplines within the organization. This role will support the contract administration team in the Greater Toronto Area and positions are also available in Sudbury, Ontario. Your role Conduct daily inspection and oversight of complex bridge, highway, roadway, railway, watermain, sewer construction projects. Monitor contractors work for compliance with contract specifications and applicable safety and environmental legislation. Take accurate and detailed measurements of all work performed by the contractor to ensure accurate payments for work performed. Make payment recommendations to Contract Administrator and client staff. Maintain Daily project records / diary entries and track quantities for Quality Assurance/Quality Control for sampling frequency Assist Contract Administrator with various administrative duties and the review of contractor submissions for compliance with contractual obligations. Attend site meetings, take meeting notes and assist in the preparation of site meeting minute reports. Mentor junior team members on the various facets of site inspection. Other duties may be assigned. About you College Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Construction Coordination or an equivalent discipline. Must have RCSI (Road Construction Senior Inspector) or P.Eng. (Professional Engineer) designation and be in good standing with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) or Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT) as a C.E.T. (Certified Engineering Technologist) or C.Tech. (Certified Technician); considered an asset. Valid Ontario Class G driver’s license with a clean driving record, and access to a personal vehicle. Minimum of 5 years of experience working as a Senior Inspector. Must have previous experience working on MTO highway and/or municipal roadway projects performing Inspection duties on one or more of the following construction activities: excavation; fill and granular placement; grading; watermain installation; storm sewer installation; paving operations; asphalt placement; rehabilitation or construction of new bridge structures; retaining walls; or other structural construction works.
