Job Summary: The position requires an articulate, self-motivated individual who possesses strong organizational skills and will pay close attention to detail, along with strong understanding of accounting and related processes. Reporting to the Finance Manager, the right candidate will have strong verbal and written communications skills as well as the ability to handle a multitude of responsibilities within the Finance function. This position will have the opportunity to get involved with the daily accounting as well as monthly reconciliation and analysis across a wide range of accounts and financial areas. With direction from the Finance Manager, this position will be a key contributor to our month, quarter and year-end close process as well as meeting our Public Company reporting requirements. Job Description: Take ownership of assigned month-end accounting and reporting tasks, including preparation of various journal entries, preparation of continuity schedules (Work in Process and Deferred Revenue), review and post accruals as needed. Preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual P&L and Balance Sheet analytics. Prepare accurate, timely and detailed balance sheet reconciliations to ensure no material financial statement misstatements. Revenue recognition and maintenance of Work in Process (WIP) and Deferred Revenue Schedule. Setting up new projects in Open Air. Review projects in OpenAir to verify invoicing status and cash collection prior to closing the project. Key contributor to transaction fee revenue processing, reconciliation and journal process. Perform monthly account analysis and compare forecast to actual; support compilation of data for forecasting purposes. Review and approval of weekly Accounts Receivable aging reports. Training to be an available backup for key functions performed by other members of the Finance team. Organize data and improve processes to increase business efficiency. Assistance to and ad-hoc assignments from the Finance Manager and Director, Finance & Administration. Provide business intelligence, insight and reporting to leadership. Review and approval of various work processes and outputs from the Accountant and Accounting Clerk. Some travel may be required. Candidate must be able to travel to and within Canada and the U.S. Education and Experience: University or college degree in business or accounting is ideal. 3-5 years of full cycle accounting experience including journal entries, period end close and reconciliation. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Excellent communication skills for interactions via email, telephone, and in-person meetings. Advanced MS Excel skills and experience in database management/Power BI is an asset. Demonstrated experience with ERP systems and business intelligence software; experience with Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains, BPC, Adaptive, Netsuite’s OpenAir would an asset. Ability to gather data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and propose solutions.
