About this job

  • PartnerRe is seeking a skilled and motivated finance professional to join our North America Life Finance team. This role supports financial reporting and analysis for our US life reinsurer, PartnerRe Life Reinsurance Company of America (PLRA). You’ll play a key role in preparing regulatory filings, analyzing financial results, and supporting capital and tax reporting processes. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong foundation in insurance accounting who is ready to take the next step in their career.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare quarterly and annual NAIC statutory filings and audited financial statements.
  • Assist in the preparation of US corporate tax returns and related documentation.
  • Reconcile and maintain accuracy between the PeopleSoft General Ledger and SUN technical sub-ledger.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Valuation, Legal, Administration) to ensure consistency and reliability of financial data.
  • Support the production of legal entity plans and capital forecasts.
  • Review and assist in the preparation of board materials.
  • Maintain documentation for SOX and other internal control processes, including process narratives and flowcharts.
  • Support ad-hoc projects, including process reviews and accounting transaction analysis.

Technical Skills/Competencies

  • Solid knowledge of core accounting principles (debits/credits, trial balance, intercompany transactions).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (i.e. pivot tables, vlookups)
  • Experience with financial systems such as PeopleSoft and SUN. Knowledge of the WINGS financial reporting software is considered an asset.

  • Strong time management and organizational skills with a commitment to meeting deadlines.
  • Excellent attention to detail, documentation practices, and analytical thinking.
  • Professional communication skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Work Experience

  • 3–5 years of experience in accounting or financial reporting within the insurance or financial services industry. Solid knowledge of GAAP accounting standards. Prior experience with NAIC statutory accounting and reporting is considered an asset.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance; CPA designation or progress toward it is considered an asset.
