- Job Description
- We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Export Control Manager to join our team in Shanghai, China. This role is critical in ensuring compliance with global and Chinese export control and sanctions regulations within the automotive sector. You will serve as a key advisor to internal stakeholders and external partners, driving the implementation of compliance programs and managing complex regulatory requirements.
- Key Responsibilities
- Lead the implementation of the Internal Compliance Program (ICP) for Export Control & Sanctions (EC&S) in China.
- Monitor and interpret Chinese export control laws and regulations; communicate updates to global EC&S teams and regional management.
- Make export approval decisions and conduct risk assessments for transactions involving EC&S concerns.
- Provide strategic advice on EC&S-related matters to senior management and operational teams.
- Engage with government authorities (e.g., MOFCOM) and external legal/consulting firms on export license cases.
- Deliver EC&S training and awareness programs across the organization.
- Support contract reviews and customer communications related to EC&S compliance.
- Develop and maintain a strong network of Export Control Coordinators (ECCs) across China.
- Qualifications
- Education & Certification
- Bachelor’s degree in International Trade, Law, Economics, Administration, or a related field.
- Master’s degree or professional certification in export control, compliance, or law is a strong asset.
- Experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in export control and sanctions compliance, preferably within the automotive industry.
- Proven track record in managing EC&S programs in multinational corporations, ideally with APAC and global exposure.
- Experience in project management, risk assessments, internal audits, and compliance reviews.
- Knowledge & Skills
- Expert-level understanding of EU, US, and Chinese export control and sanctions regulations.
- Advanced knowledge of EC&S practices in China.
- Proficiency in SAP and data analysis tools.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to influence cross-functional teams and drive compliance initiatives.
- Chinese native, English fluent.
