About

  • We're a mission- and values-driven company with tremendous dedication to our customers. Our 100% remote team, spread across the US and Canada, is dedicated to a common goal – to revolutionize healthcare through innovation, collaboration, and commitment to our core values and behaviors.
  • At Synthesis Health, we are committed to transforming healthcare through innovative technology, leveraging AI/ML and scalable, native cloud architectures to build solutions that make a meaningful difference. Our software development team is at the heart of this mission, and we are looking for individuals who are passionate about building secure, scalable, and high-performance compliant systems.
  • About the Opportunity
  • We are looking for an experienced Sr. DevOps with a specialization in performance to help build, scale, and optimize the infrastructure that powers the next generation of our cloud-native healthcare platform. You will be a key technical contributor responsible for designing, implementing, and owning the CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code, and the observability and performance engineering frameworks that enable our teams.
  • You will be laser-focused on diagnosing and eliminating performance bottlenecks, ensuring sub-second response times for critical workflows, and optimizing resource utilization across our GCP environment. If you are a builder who thrives on solving complex infrastructure challenges, automating everything, and is passionate about making systems faster and more efficient to make a significant impact on healthcare, this is the perfect opportunity for you.

Key Responsibilities

  • · Lead Performance Software Development Initiatives: Proactively identify and resolve performance bottlenecks across applications and infrastructure. Design and execute comprehensive load, stress, and endurance tests using tools like LoadRunner, Grafana k6, JMeter, and BlazeMeter.
  • · Build and Automate Core Infrastructure: Design, build, and maintain our cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles with tools like Terraform and Ansible. Automate infrastructure provisioning and management processes to improve deployment velocity and resource efficiency.
  • · Drive CI/CD and Deployment Excellence: Own and enhance our CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI) to enable seamless, high-quality releases. Integrate performance testing gates into the pipeline to catch regressions before they reach production. Implement and refine advanced deployment strategies such as Blue-Green and Canary.
  • · Champion Performance and Reliability: Establish and evangelize best practices for observability, monitoring, and performance testing. Analyze system-level metrics, troubleshoot complex issues, and optimize resource utilization across GCP services (GKE, Cloud Run, Compute Engine).
  • · Deep-Dive Performance Analysis: Conduct in-depth performance analysis by capturing and interpreting user activity (e.g., HAR files), converting them into actionable load test scripts, and providing detailed optimization recommendations to development teams.
  • · Secure and Harden Systems: Ensure all systems meet the highest security standards and compliance requirements, incorporating HIPAA, SOC2, and other relevant regulatory standards into the infrastructure lifecycle. Implement and manage security tools and processes to protect sensitive data.
  • · Lead with Technical Expertise and Mentorship: Formally or informally mentor junior engineers, helping to level up the team's performance engineering capabilities through code reviews, knowledge sharing, and hands-on guidance. Significantly influence your team's technical direction on performance and scalability.

What We're Looking For

  • · Experience in DevOps & SRE: 5+ years of experience in a DevOps, SRE, or equivalent role with a strong track record of designing, building, and operating scalable and secure infrastructure.

· Deep Expertise in Performance Software Development: You have hands-on experience instrumenting and debugging performance issues across a full stack. This includes

  • o Proven experience with performance software development, including recording user activity (e.g., HAR files) and converting them into load tests.
  • o Demonstrated expertise with at least two of the following load testing tools: LoadRunner, Grafana k6, JMeter, BlazeMeter.
  • · Strong Cloud and Architecture Skills: Deep expertise with a major cloud provider (GCP preferred) and its core components (GKE, VPC, Cloud Storage, Pub/Sub). You can independently tackle complex infrastructure challenges, architecting robust and high-performance solutions with minimal guidance.

· Hands-On Expertise with Modern Tech Stacks: You have practical, deep knowledge of the principles and technologies that underpin modern infrastructure

  • o Containerization and Orchestration: Deep knowledge of deploying and running applications in Docker containers and Kubernetes (GKE).
  • o Infrastructure as Code: Proven experience with Terraform and/or Ansible.
  • o CI/CD: Experience building and maintaining pipelines using tools like GitLab CI.
  • o Scripting and Automation: Very strong scripting skills (e.g., Bash, Python) to automate operational tasks.
  • · Clarity in Communication: You can clearly articulate complex technical ideas and performance data to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Your diagrams and documents are a source of clarity.
  • · Leadership Through Influence: You have a demonstrated ability to influence your team's technical direction, driving consensus, and elevating the bar for engineering excellence, especially in the performance domain.

Preferred Qualifications

  • · Healthcare Domain Experience: Your application will stand out if you have experience in regulated industries. Deep familiarity with healthcare data standards (DICOM, HL7) and compliance regulations (HIPAA) is a significant advantage.
  • · Advanced CI/CD Experience: Familiarity with GitOps principles and tools like ArgoCD or DroneCI.
  • · Google Cloud Certification: Relevant certifications such as Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer are a plus.
  • · Team Lead Experience: Previous experience leading a team or technical initiatives.

Why You Should Join Us

  • · Solve Challenging Problems: This is a high-leverage role. You will be working on impactful technical challenges that are critical to the company's success.
  • · Build the Future of Healthcare: You won't just be maintaining systems; you will be a primary builder of our infrastructure's future state, with the autonomy to own major components.
  • · Make a Major Impact: This is a chance to establish yourself as a key technical voice on a team that is transforming healthcare.
  • · Competitive Compensation & Benefits: We offer a strong salary, meaningful equity, a 100% remote culture, and significant opportunities for growth.
