- In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain backend systems that support large-scale, global applications, ensuring performance, scalability, and reliability. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including frontend engineers, product managers, designers, and QA, to deliver seamless features that impact millions of users worldwide. The role offers a mix of technical challenges and problem-solving opportunities, from optimizing databases to implementing secure APIs. You will contribute to high-volume, distributed systems while driving best practices and mentoring peers in backend engineering. Working in a remote-first, dynamic environment, you will help shape the architecture and roadmap of critical services. This position emphasizes both autonomy and collaboration, with a focus on delivering value to customers and the business.
Accountabilities
- • Design, implement, and maintain scalable backend services using Node.js and TypeScript.
- • Collaborate with cross-functional teams throughout the Software Development Lifecycle, from discovery to deployment.
- • Develop and enhance APIs, databases (PostgreSQL), and core backend features with high performance and reliability.
- • Optimize systems for high transaction volumes, concurrency, idempotency, and throughput.
- • Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and knowledge-sharing to ensure best practices and maintain high-quality code.
- • Troubleshoot, debug, and continuously improve system performance and maintainability.
- • Mentor and support peers to foster technical growth and team development.
- • Ensure secure and compliant backend systems, integrating input validation, JWT authentication, and queue-based workflows where necessary.
- • 8+ years of professional experience as a Software Engineer, with strong backend expertise.
- • Proficiency in Node.js, TypeScript, and at least one other server-side language.
- • Expertise in SQL databases (PostgreSQL), including query optimization, data modeling, and migrations.
- • Solid understanding of OOP principles, design patterns, and scalable architecture.
- • Experience building high-volume, performance-critical systems.
- • Skilled in API development, security best practices, and building robust, maintainable code.
- • Experience collaborating in distributed, remote-first teams with excellent asynchronous communication.
- • Strong problem-solving mindset with business-focused development orientation.
- • Bonus: SaaS experience, serverless architecture (AWS), FinTech knowledge, or experience with cloud infrastructure.
