We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join our expanding team in Mississauga to help and oversee the growth. Overview Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Senior Accountant is responsible for executing activities aligned with the monitoring and processing of financial statements. As part of the administrative team, the role is responsible for maintaining integrity, professionalism and accuracy in performing responsibilities. Responsible for the accurate and timely completion of monthly, quarterly, and annual month end close cycles through effective planning, monitoring, and troubleshooting. Compile and analyze financial information to prepare journal entries and document business transactions and direct the monthly closing process. Prepare monthly financial statements, including balance sheets, income statement, statements of cash flows and statements of changes in net assets. Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations and variance analysis. Establish and document internal control procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting. Assess, evaluate, and inventory fixed assets and equipment, recording information such as the property's description, value, and location. Monitor and review accounting and related system reports for accuracy and completeness. Assist in the annual budget process, analyze business and user needs. Analyze revenue and expenditure trends and recommend appropriate budget levels and expenditure control. As required, review budget, revenue, expense, asset, liability, invoices, and other accounting documents. Supervise the input and handling of financial data and reports for the financial systems. Review other team members' reports to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting regulations. Train others on financial systems and manages key interfaces and interdependencies. Make recommendations for enhancements to financial systems and associated processes and participate in or lead their implementation. Collaborate with internal and external groups. Undertake US Corporate payroll review, processing and posting, future CDN payroll. Other tasks as assigned by Finance Director. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree (Accounting or Finance) required. CPA or advanced degree in accounting preferred. Minimum of 3 years of accounting/finance experience, experience in Sage300 ERP (mandatory), manufacturing and ERP review and implementation an asset. Must demonstrate attention to detail in a fast-paced work environment and the ability to adapt quickly to changing conditions to achieve results. Communicate well with team and across organizational boundaries to create alignment and ensure the successful completion of shared goals. Comfortable leading meetings and able to communicate issues and trends to senior management and other groups at the appropriate level of detail. Possesses a solid understanding of accounting principles. Exhibits a high level of energy and serves as an effective change agent.
