- About the Role
- We are looking for a detail-oriented and hands-on Senior Accountant to take ownership of accounting operations for our Canadian entity. In this role, you will manage the full scope of local accounting operations, month-end close, audit readiness, and statutory reporting, while ensuring accurate and timely reporting to our Group Accounting team for consolidation purposes.
- You will work closely with internal stakeholders and external partners to ensure compliance, strong controls, and scalable accounting processes.
Your Tasks
- Local Entity Accounting & Month-End Close
- Own the end-to-end accounting operations for the Canadian entities, ensuring accurate bookkeeping and compliance with internal policies.
- Prepare monthly reporting packages and financial statements to be submitted to Group Accounting for consolidation.
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting aligned with Group timelines and requirements.
- General Ledger & Journal Entries
- Maintain the general ledger and ensure accurate recording of business transactions.
- Prepare and post journal entries in the ERP system, including accruals, allocations, and adjustments.
- Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
- Support revenue recognition and cost of sales reconciliation during month-end close.
- Ensure intercompany transactions are booked correctly and reconciled with Group entities.
- Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable (AP/AR) Operations
- Manage Accounts Payable (AP) processes including booking, reviewing, and processing vendor invoices.
- Ensure accurate and timely Accounts Receivable (AR) invoice postings and support billing-related activities.
- Post and reconcile credit card transactions and ensure proper expense allocation.
- Perform regular bank postings and bank reconciliations, ensuring cash movements are accurately recorded.
- Support monthly AP/AR cut-off activities and accrual postings.
- Manage the full-cycle invoicing process for our partners, ensuring invoices are generated accurately based on platform data.
- Monitor Accounts Receivable (AR) aging reports and support the collection process (dunning) to ensure timely receipt of funds.
- Audit & Statutory Reporting Support
- Coordinate with external auditors and advisors to support annual audit and statutory reporting requirements.
- Prepare audit-ready documentation and working papers to respond efficiently to audit requests.
- Support the preparation of schedules and reconciliations required for year-end.
- Tax & Compliance
- Support compliance activities, including preparation of information for GST/HST filings and remittances.
- Assist in gathering information for corporate income tax filings (in collaboration with external tax advisors).
- Support communication with external advisors and authorities as needed.
- Internal Controls & Risk Management
- Support the implementation and maintenance of internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial accuracy.
- Assist with internal and external audits by providing documentation and explanations.
- Identify control gaps and recommend improvements.
- Cross-functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Sales, Operations, Tech, and other teams to ensure accurate financial data and smooth workflows.
- Ensure intercompany allocation of costs and invoicing of services are booked correctly.
- Act as the key finance contact for the Canadian entity in day-to-day operational topics.
- Maintain accounting aspects of the operational platform
- Process Improvement & Automation
- Continuously assess and improve accounting processes to enhance efficiency and scalability.
- Recommend enhancements to reporting, reconciliation workflows, and month-end closing procedures.
- Support finance system improvements and automation initiatives.
Your Profile
- Background: You have a degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or equivalent practical experience in operational finance.
- Professional Experience: You bring 3–4 years of relevant experience in accounting or finance operations (General Ledger, AP/AR, billing, month-end close), ideally within an international company or group structure with reporting to Group Accounting.
- Accounting Expertise: You have strong hands-on knowledge of month-end close processes, journal entries, reconciliations, and statutory/audit support. Experience with Canadian GAAP is required. You have experience supporting GST/HST reporting and Canadian compliance workflows.
Tech & Data Skills
- Accounting Software: Proven experience with ERP and accounting systems (e.g., QuickBooks, Lucanet, or similar platforms).
- Mindset: You are detail-oriented, hands-on, and take ownership of your work. You enjoy improving processes, collaborating cross-functionally, and ensuring high-quality reporting to support business growth.
