Job Description Wittington Investments, Limited Senior Accountant Overview: The Family Office of Wittington Investments, Limited is responsible for the accounting, tax, investment and administrative functions for a prominent Canadian family. The Senior Accountant position will be responsible for full cycle of accounting for their assigned entities, including budgeting, analyzing and reporting, reconciling, and corporate tax filing. The position reports to a Senior Manager of the Family Office. Responsibilities: Treasury and cash management Prepare monthly treasury forecast including recommendations of actions to take Prepare payment requests and coordinate with bank for corporate entities and Family Office clients Develop relationship with bank and coordinate banking requirements Bookkeeping, Financial Statements and other Financial Reporting Prepare and post accounting transactions with supporting documentation for multiple companies, including investment entities Preparation of investment activity schedule, calculate realized/unrealized foreign exchange, and reconcile investment book value to broker statements and maintain schedule of adjusted cost bases for marketable securities Prepare and post entries to the asset, liability, and capital account sub ledgers with supporting documentation Prepare monthly or quarterly financial statements for assigned entities and other reports for submission to the Director Manage the accounts payable function; review of payments for supporting documentation, correct coding of disbursements, accurate and timely payments to vendors, reconciliation of credit cards charges, and reconciliation of vendor accounts. Preparation of annual budget as required for specific entities. Support annual audit of financial statements In collaboration with the Director, identify opportunities for process improvements. Provide support to operations for ad-hoc projects as needed, including resolving problems that may arise. Assist with ad hoc requests from Family Office clients. Taxes Preparation of personal, corporate and trust tax returns with year-end reconciliation working papers Gather supporting tax information for internal and external tax teams Assist in the preparation of regulatory filing and tax filings Review Notice of Assessment from CRA and tax related journal entries Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Accounting, Tax or Finance, investment experience considered an asset Completed or pursuing a professional accounting designation (CPA). 3-5 years of accounting/finance experience Experience with the full cycle of accounting, financial analysis Experience with preparation of corporate tax returns Experience with estate accounting and estate administration related matters an asset Strong time management skills with experience/exposure to managing tight deadlines Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral Advanced knowledge of MS Office Applications withMS Excel being essential Professional and discrete demeanor Self-starter, self-directed, performance and results driven Accepts ownership and accountability and possesses a high level of integrity Team player with a positive 'can do' attitude to objectives and challenges as they arise.
