As our newest Risk Assessor, you will play an important role on a team whose work is essential to achieving this goal. Working within our national Risk Assessment team, you will contribute to a variety of complex projects and apply your existing regulatory knowledge while continuing to expand your expertise in provincial and federal requirements. You will leverage and further develop your skills by collaborating with our internal teams, clients, and regulators to design technical scopes of work, prepare proposals, and manage and deliver projects. Success in this role will require strong communication skills, the ability to manage competing priorities and assignments, as well as maintain the ability to remain flexible, independent, and possess a significant attention to detail. Specific responsibilities will include: Develop and deliver human health and ecological risk assessments, impact assessments, risk management plans, performance verification plans, etc. in accordance with provincial, territorial, and federal regulatory frameworks Support proposal development, including contributing to project scoping, planning, and budgeting activities. Evaluate site-specific physical characteristics, environmental data, receptor exposure assumptions, and toxicity information to inform the development of exposure and risk models. Prepare detailed conceptual site models by consolidating and interpreting field data, laboratory results, and other relevant site and receptor information. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to prepare high-quality technical reports and effectively communicate findings to clients, regulators, and other stakeholders. Contribute to proposal writing and provide technical support to projects led by other disciplines, such as site assessment and ecology. Mentor and support junior staff, fostering skill development and knowledge sharing within the team. Final agreed upon compensation will be commensurate with individual education, professional designation, experience, internal parity, and location. 37.5 hour work week, permanent full-time position. Qualifications Graduate degree in biology, toxicology, chemistry, soil science, geoscience, or related scientific field 5 to 8+ years of experience in preparing high-quality human health and/or ecological risk assessments for a variety of audiences including clients and other stakeholders, Indigenous communities, and regulators Hands-on experience in environmental data collection and evaluation, including the design and implementation of community surveys. Strong analytical skills, with demonstrated proficiency in data management, spreadsheet development, and automation. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to collaborate effectively in multidisciplinary teams, prepare clear technical reports, and develop engaging presentation materials. Experience contributing to project management tasks such as scope development, budgeting, and supporting proposals. Working knowledge of biological and toxicological studies (e.g., benthic community assessments, toxicity tests etc.), an asset Experience with risk assessments under O.Reg. 153/04, an asset. Experience with soil vapour and indoor air quality assessments at contaminated sites, an asset, Valid driver’s license and willingness to occasionally travel to sites/clients Membership or eligibility for membership in a professional organization (e.g., R.P.Bio., P.Geo., P.Eng., P.Ag., CSAP, or QPRA).
