Your opportunity:

The Office of the Vice Dean, Research & Health Science Education (VDRHE) oversees research undertaken for the Temerty Faculty of Medicine and coordinates with its counterparts at the affiliated hospital research institutes for clinical research. This includes grant proposal development, administering internal funding allocations, collecting and reporting on research productivity metrics, and managing core research facilities.

As the Research Data Coordinator, you will generate and disseminate routine and ad hoc research metrics used to support reporting requirements for departments, units and the faculty. You will gather and analyze research metrics from both internal and external databases, providing context to end users and internal stakeholders to help them understand the data provided and inform decision making. Your collaborative approach, ability to work independently, strong analytical skills and proven track record of meaningfully contributing to complex projects will be key to your success in this role.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Generating and disseminating both regular and ad hoc reports to be used for management decision-making
  • Analyzing complex statistical reports and financial information to inform management decision-making
  • Coordinating tasks for projects and other strategic initiatives with stakeholders; and continuously analyzing processes to identify areas to boost efficiency in operations
  • Reviewing and assessing requirements needed to meet project timelines; and researching, analyzing and recommending solutions to project challenges
  • Updating and maintaining database records, and implementing data-cleaning processes for more consistent and reliable reporting
  • Delivering training to end users on procedures and use of relevant information technology (IT)/data systems


Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum three years of related data coordination experience preferably within an academic institution, teaching hospital or comparable environment
  • Experience generating and disseminating reports used to inform decision-making
  • Demonstrated experience with data analysis, including analyzing complex statistical reports
  • Experience updating and maintaining database records
  • Experience implementing data-cleaning processes
  • Experience with project coordination
  • Experience building and managing relationships with stakeholders
  • Experience delivering end-user training on IT/data systems
  • Experience using a wide range of research productivity metrics and databases (Scopus, Web of Science, RIS, Altmetric) and building and generating report
  • Experience usingstatistical/analytical software (SPSS, Tableau)
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Access, PowerPoint) and must possess advanced Excel skills
  • Strong technical skills to reliably extract, integrate, and work with complex data sets
  • Solid analytical and project management skills, including the ability to set priorities and workflows, meet deadlines and facilitate/influence others to meet deadlines
  • Excellent organizational, and problem-solving skills with the abilityto work independently and as a collaborative team member
  • Superior communication skills (oral, written and listening)
  • Ability to synthesize large amounts of data and present data analytics in an efficient, effective and easily understandable way to a wide variety of audiences
  • General knowledge of research principles, concepts and techniques relating to data collection and data management
