- At SENER we know that, with the right people on board, everything is possible. Currently, we are looking for a Requirements Manager to join us in our downtown office. This is a new role and would include a hybrid work environment with some site visits to a project office.
- The Requirements Manager is responsible for developing, managing, and maintaining project requirements throughout the lifecycle of major railway and transit infrastructure programs. This role ensures that all technical, functional, safety, and performance requirements are clearly defined, validated, verified, and traced across multidisciplinary engineering teams. The Requirements Manager works closely with project managers, systems engineers, planners, designers, and the client.
Key Responsibilities
- ·Develop and maintain the Requirements Management Plan for assigned rail and transit projects.
- ·Establish a structured approach for capturing, organizing, and tracing requirements across disciplines (civil, track, systems, electrical, mechanical, signaling).
- ·Facilitate workshops with client and internal teams to refine and clarify requirements.
- ·Translate client needs, standards, and regulatory obligations into clear, actionable technical requirements.
Requirements Traceability & Systems Engineering
- ·Build and maintain full traceability using requirements management tools (e.g., IBM DOORS).
- ·Ensure requirements are linked to designs, specifications, test procedures, verification evidence, and acceptance criteria.
- ·Support systems engineering workflows including V-model lifecycle processes.
Verification & Validation (V&V)
- ·Develop verification and validation strategies and matrices.
- ·Coordinate evidence gathering from engineering teams, construction, testing, and commissioning groups.
- ·Compile V&V reports and support client acceptance reviews.
Change Control & Configuration Alignment
- · Assess how project changes impact requirements and traceability baselines.
- ·Work with configuration and change managers to ensure requirement updates align with approved design changes.
- ·Maintain clean, auditable requirement baselines throughout all project stages.
Stakeholder & Client Coordination
- ·Act as the key point of contact for requirements with client organizations (e.g., Metrolinx, TTC).
- ·Communicate requirement interpretations and changes to internal Engineering, PMO, and Quality teams.
- ·Participate in design reviews, technical meetings, audits, and integration committees.
Standards & Compliance
- ·Ensure requirements comply with applicable rail and transit standards, including safety and systems engineering frameworks (e.g., EN 50126/50128/50129, ISO 9001, APTA standards).
- ·Support risk analyses by ensuring that safety- and performance-critical requirements are fully addressed.
Required Qualifications
- ·Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Systems Engineering, Transportation, or related technical field.
- ·Strong understanding of requirements management principles and system lifecycle processes.
- ·Experience with requirements tools (DOORS, Jama, or similar)
- ·Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
- ·Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- ·Ability to manage complex datasets and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
- Preferred Experience
- ·Must have 4 to 6 years of experience in requirements management, systems engineering, or technical project coordination—ideally within rail, transit, or infrastructure environments.
- ·Knowledge of Ontario transit agencies such as Metrolinx or TTC-Must have Rail project experience
- ·Familiarity with the V‑Model systems engineering lifecycle.
- ·Experience supporting major infrastructure projects.
- ·Understanding of safety assurance and regulatory requirements for rail systems.
