Unposting Date: 2025-11-20 11:59 PM Your role Are you passionate about local news and current affairs, and enthusiastic about impactful digital journalism? Radio-Canada Toronto is looking for a Reporter-Editor to join its news team. You have strong critical thinking skills and a sharp news sense. You can identify compelling stories and work independently while collaborating effectively with colleagues. In everything you do, you’ll put audience needs at the heart of your work and ensure a broad range of perspectives, experiences and viewpoints are reflected in our coverage. This is a temporary position (until the end of August 2026). Your presence on-site will be required at all times. Key responsibilities: Write and produce stories for digital platforms, as well as for radio and television. Edit audio and video content to produce reports within tight deadlines. Present live news content across our platforms. Provide analysis and context on current affairs topics. Pitch original story ideas daily. Identify and tell stories that resonate with a broad audience through engaging angles. Regularly produce exclusive and enterprise-driven journalism. React quickly to breaking news situations. Condense large amounts of complex information under tight time constraints. Collaborate with colleagues to develop and present stories and coordinate long-term coverage. Build and maintain strong working relationships with a wide range of contacts and sources. Your profile: University degree in journalism (or equivalent) and at least three (3) years of relevant experience Proven experience working in a fast-paced daily news environment Strong writing skills across all platforms, with experience gathering, editing and producing audio and video content Ability to present live reports on-air Knowledge of emerging formats, openness to change, and willingness to take on new responsibilities across platforms Ability to generate, cover and present strong, original stories that meet audience needs Strong understanding of Toronto and Ontario’s political, economic and demographic landscape Ability to connect with and reflect local communities Strong commitment to diversity, inclusion and respect in the workplace Professional ethics and solid understanding of Radio-Canada’s Journalistic Standards and Practices Excellent teamwork, initiative and resourcefulness Bilingualism (French/English) required Valid driver’s licence and driving record that meets CBC/Radio-Canada’s minimum insurance requirements Ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines and occasionally work unexpected overtime Candidates may be subject to skills and knowledge testing.
