  • Position Overview
  • The RAMS Manager leads the development and implementation of the Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, and Safety (RAMS) program for the LRT project. This role ensures that all systems—including Rolling Stock, Signaling and Control, Power Infrastructure, and OMSF—meet stringent safety standards and performance requirements throughout design, construction, commissioning, and operations.
  • Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement the RAMS Management Plan in accordance with relevant standards including EN 50126, EN 50128, and EN 50129.
  • Lead hazard identification, risk assessment, and risk mitigation activities across all project systems.
  • Establish safety targets and RAM performance requirements for rolling stock, signaling systems, power infrastructure, and operations.
  • Coordinate safety case development and submissions to regulatory authorities and safety oversight agencies.
  • Manage the hazard log, risk register, and safety requirements traceability throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Conduct RAMS reviews during design, manufacturing, installation, and commissioning phases.
  • Lead Functional Safety Assessments and independent safety audits of critical systems.
  • Coordinate with System Integration Manager to ensure safety requirements are integrated into testing and commissioning activities.
  • Develop and review operational safety procedures including normal operations, degraded modes, and emergency scenarios.
  • Establish maintainability requirements and validate maintenance strategies for all systems.
  • Monitor RAM performance metrics and conduct reliability growth analysis during testing and commissioning.
  • Interface with rolling stock manufacturer, signaling contractor, and other suppliers to ensure RAMS compliance.
  • Support operational readiness by ensuring safety training, procedures, and documentation are comprehensive.
  • Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Systems, Electrical, Safety Engineering, or related discipline); Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in RAMS management for rail or transit systems.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of railway safety standards including EN 5012x series, CENELEC standards, and local regulations.
  • Proven experience conducting hazard analysis, risk assessment, and safety case development.
  • Strong understanding of functional safety principles for signaling, control, and critical systems.
  • Experience with RAM modeling tools, reliability prediction techniques, and FMECA methodologies.
  • Familiarity with Safety Integrity Level (SIL) requirements and certification processes.
  • Excellent analytical skills with ability to assess complex safety risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Professional certification such as Certified Functional Safety Expert or equivalent is highly desirable.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or equivalent preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for preparing safety documentation and presentations.
  • Independent judgment with commitment to safety culture and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to challenge design decisions constructively while maintaining collaborative relationships.
