Job summary

  • As a Quotation Specialist, you will be responsible for preparing, managing, and tracking price quotes for our liquid-filled transformers, including substation, network, padmount, distribution, and vault models. This role is essential to ensuring our quotes are both competitive and profitable. Your key responsibilities will include analyzing costs, collaborating with suppliers and sales teams, and potentially negotiating contracts to support and drive sales.

  • Strategic Collaboration
  • Work closely with the Quotation Manager to align on strategies and goals.
  • Partner with internal teams to drive business growth in key markets, including investor-owned utilities, public power, construction, and renewable energy.
  • Bid & Proposal Development
  • Analyze customer inquiries, specifications, and drawings for transformer requirements (e.g., voltage, power rating, cooling type, special features).
  • Formulate competitive bids, estimates, and quotations by considering the best product mix and appropriate technical and commercial factors.
  • Prepare detailed technical descriptions of proposed products and technologies.
  • Determine costs including materials, labor, engineering, and project management hours.
  • Ensure tenders are thoroughly documented, submitted on time, and include complete and accurate cost breakdowns.
  • Collaborate with engineering, sales, supply chain, and project management teams to gather all necessary technical and cost elements.
  • Technical Expertise
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of power transformer technology, applications, and industry standards (e.g., CSA, IEEE).
  • Interpret complex electrical specifications, schematics, and construction drawings.
  • Identify the most suitable technology and product types to meet customer needs.
  • Provide technical support to sales account managers and clarify proposal details during customer meetings.
  • Evaluate supplier offers to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Commercial & Financial Management
  • Ensure quotations comply with company pricing and discount policies while maintaining profitability.
  • Identify and assess risks in bids, quotations, and contract agreements.
  • Participate in internal risk reviews and negotiations.
  • Maintain an active log of wins/losses for project bids, including vendors and contractors quoted.
  • Follow up on quotations and adjust as needed to secure orders.
  • Customer Relationship Management
  • Respond promptly and professionally to customer inquiries.
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships to understand needs and ensure a positive experience throughout the sales process.
  • Provide timely follow-ups on specialized or technical questions.
  • Process Improvement & Compliance
  • Drive process excellence to ensure accurate costing and product alignment with project specifications.
  • Maintain accurate records of all quotations and sales activities in company systems (e.g., CRM, ERP).
  • Ensure compliance with internal and external regulations, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Analyze reasons for lost bids to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in quotations, sales support, bid management, or project management, preferably within the electrical industry.
  • College diploma in a technical field.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for clear and concise proposal writing and customer interaction.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional internal teams and external customers/suppliers.
  • Ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Solid negotiation skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities to manage multiple quotations simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Self-motivated with a strong sense of initiative.
  • Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing priorities.
