Freelance Proofreader – Epic Fantasy Novel (175,000 words) Introduction: We are looking for an experienced proofreader to work on a 175,000-word epic fantasy manuscript. The proofreader will receive the manuscript on October 8, 2025, and the final proofread document must be completed by November 1st, 2025. This project focuses on polishing the manuscript for grammar, punctuation, spelling, and consistency while preserving the author’s voice. Responsibilities: - Conduct a thorough proofread of the 175,000-word manuscript. - Correct grammar, punctuation, spelling, and typographical errors. - Ensure consistency in character names, terminology, and narrative style. - Prepare a clean version of the manuscript by the deadline as well as a tracked changes version (Microsoft Word). - Communicate with the author as needed for clarifications. - Must not use AI tools for editing or proofreading without disclosing. Qualifications: - Proven experience proofreading long-form fiction, ideally in fantasy. - Exceptional attention to detail and strong command of English grammar and style. - Familiarity with style guides (Chicago Manual of Style or similar) preferred. - Ability to meet tight deadlines and work independently.
