  • The role of Project Manager (Mechanical) is to manage MSL’s Project Team in the execution of the project scope, such that the works are delivered safely, efficiently, on schedule, to the highest quality standards. The Project Manager will also have a key role in the development of construction execution plans, schedules, and subcontract work scopes, as deemed necessary for the project delivery. The project manager will be expected to work within the guidelines of MSL’s Project Management plan framework, and actively contribute to the continuous improvement of same
  • Role and Responsibilities
  • You will be reporting to the Project Director
  • Have day-to-day responsibility for managing Health and Safety matters, on the project, and ensure that the Company Safety Management procedures are implemented.
  • Manage and conduct work activities, to ensure the Safety, Health and Welfare at work of employees, client employees, contractors and any other persons affected by MSL’s operations.
  • Plan all aspects of the work from initiation through planning, execution, monitoring, control and closeout for all materials, subcontract work packages and craft requirements.
  • Manage the site management team, including the Construction Manager, Engineers, and craft Supervisors.
  • Work with the Scheduler, Engineers, and Construction Manager to develop a constructability report and schedule for the project.
  • Establish subcontractor work scope execution plans with the assigned QS, including generating work scopes, tendering and awarding of works, through to controlling subcontractors’ costs, schedule, quality and safety throughout the contract.
  • Liaise with workshops on prefabrication planning and co-ordinate the works including prioritizations, test requirements, and documentation.
  • Generate weekly/monthly progress reporting to customer / client and or their representatives in a timely and professional fashion.
  • Work closely with Quantity Surveyors on cost management, including pricing of variations, reworks, progress reports, negotiation with clients and sub-contractors.
  • Attend internal and client site meetings as necessary to affect a successful outcome for all stakeholders.
  • Oversee the control of time worked, adapting to and implementing site change requests as they arise.
  • Allocate resources to ensure all works are compliant with safety requirements, technical specifications and compliance with design.
  • Manage and oversee QA/QC resources to ensure the compliance of our work scope with standards, client specifications and industry requirements.
  • Previous experience as a Mechanical Project Manager required.
  • Min 5 years relevant experience as senior mechanical / project engineer is essential.
  • Experience working on mechanical construction projects in relevant industry sectors essential (Pharmaceutical, Biotech, Semi-conductor or Oil & Gas)
  • Experience working for a mechanical contractor, as opposed to Consulting AE firms or Client side, a distinct advantage.
  • Experience working on the construction stage of projects, as opposed to design stage, essential, including but not limited to piping fabrication, piping installation, pressure testing, equipment installation.
  • Preferably a Degree Qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Construction or equivalent.
  • Professional Project Management qualification, such as PMP or IPMAD an advantage
  • Proficient in the use of Navis Works or equivalent packages
  • Completion of Management of Safety in Construction (MSIC) - desirable.
  • Strong Communicator, written and verbal.
  • Diligent, has a high level of attention to detail, and sets a high standard of quality for themselves and others.
  • Personable, and a team player.
  • Strong project management, planning discipline.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks at once.
  • Hard working and able to work in fast paced work environment.
  • Accountable & highly organised someone who take ownership of tasks from beginning to end.
  • Decisive, able to make decisions while lacking some information.
  • Ability to complete successful negotiation and build rapport with customers and subcontractors.
