- As a Project Controls Manager, you will report to the Senior Manager, Project Controls of our client and provide day-to-day project controls leadership by gathering, reviewing, and analyzing data for the project controls function/team—including schedule, estimating, cost control, quality, risk/issues management, contract administration, and reporting. Working with other members of the Project Controls Team and the broader program delivery group collaboratively, you will ensure adherence to established processes across these disciplines and drive overall project controls success across the program.

As a Project Controls Manager, the position will have opportunities to work in any or several functions within Program Controls. This role will coordinate and assist in
- • Contributing to the development of procedures and processes for project controls governance across the program
- • Collaborating with project team members, stakeholders, and vendors during different stages of design development and implementation to build relationships, develop processes, and establish requirements for successful controls enablement
- • Supporting the change management process, preparing agendas for change control, and working with stakeholders to process and approve changes to the project baselines
- • Supporting the development, maintenance, and reporting of project schedules including establishing baselines, ensuring completeness, and maintaining accurate networking logic as projects progress
- • Supporting the development, maintenance, and reporting of project cost information, including budgets, commitments, expenditures, forecasts, and variance management
- • Supporting the contract management team in reviewing consultant work plans and invoices, as required
- • Supporting the Document Controls team to ensure procedures are implemented for submittals processing, document storage, and effective use of document storage solutions
- • Supporting the Risk and Issues process to ensure that data is accurately documented and aligned with schedule and financial reporting
- • Helping review project reporting to ensure accurate and consistent narrative across reporting mechanisms
- • Collaborating with the Quality Assurance team to establish the Quality Management System (QMS) and track/report on key quality KPIs
- • Assisting the Senior Project Manager, Project Controls (as needed) with tasks related to schedule, cost, contract management, risk, resourcing, quality, business systems, document control, and status reporting
- • Leading the creation of presentations and reports related to project controls, as required
- • Leading mini-projects and/or initiatives within the overall program to enhance project delivery and operational efficiency
- Qualifications
- Minimum Requirements
- • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, finance, or a relevant discipline, plus 10 years of experience in project controls
- • Minimum 2 years of leadership experience in a Project Controls Manager capacity or similar
- Preferred Qualifications
- • Completion of a diploma or degree in Business, Commerce, Project Management, Communication, or Engineering (or equivalent education, training, and experience)
- • Minimum 5 years of progressive experience, preferably in project management, consulting, or transit infrastructure delivery
- • Experience implementing project management controls processes to enable project delivery while maintaining effective oversight
- • Solid foundation in project management with a strong understanding of all PM knowledge areas
- • Project management experience including initiation, planning, execution, closure, and monitoring & controlling
- • Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, etc.)
- • Exceptional oral, written, and presentation skills to effectively communicate with varied audiences
- • Previous experience in a Project Management Office (PMO) environment is considered an asset
- • Knowledge of project KPIs including SPI, CPI, and EV; understanding of QSRA and QCRA for contingency analysis is an asset
- • Familiarity with construction procurement models such as Progressive Contracting, AFP-P3, DBB, and DBF, and their implications for project delivery is considered an asset
