About
I’m creating a short educational cartoon series that tells the story of precolonial Philippines through the eyes of a regular tribesman. The goal is to depict life, social structure, and culture before Spanish colonization in an engaging, easy-to-understand, and visually appealing way. The first episode follows the journey of a young man who starts as a debtor in his tribe, rises through his contributions to the community, becomes a Datu, wins a battle against a neighboring tribe, and faces the arrival of a mysterious foreign ship. Project Scope: 5–7 minute episode (first episode, potential for more if collaboration is successful) Simple, clean 2D animation (similar to Dinzo) Use of tribal and natural backgrounds (forests, rivers, huts, boats) Character expressions, and basic movement Deliverables: Final video in MP4 format, separate audio track, and project files Requirements: Proven experience in 2D animation (YouTube-style storytelling preferred) Ability to create consistent character designs across scenes Creative and collaborative approach to historical storytelling Can work with provided scripts and voiceovers (or provide recommendations) Below is the first paragraph of the narration: "You wake up to the sound of roosters. But your stomach growls — not from hunger alone. You remember… today you owe another tribesman labor. You lost everything in a cockfight last night. Your whole day’s food, gone. So, instead of fishing for your own meal, you’re out in the fields, sweating under the sun, repaying your debt with hard work. This is life as an alipin. Not a slave for life — but someone bound by debt, or by a mistake. Your freedom can return… if you choose the right path."
