  • General Dynamics Mission Systems–Canada is currently hiring an intermediate Payroll Administrator to join our corporate Payroll team. We are looking for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment, has a strong sense of initiative, and demonstrates effective communication with both stakeholders and colleagues. This position follows a hybrid working model, combining home and on-site work.
  • The role involves day-to-day payroll support, including data entry, timecard reconciliation, and assisting both the Payroll Team and employees with operational tasks. Candidates should have a working knowledge of payroll systems and experience with basic payroll automation.

In this role, you will be responsible for producing the biweekly payroll (Oracle Time & Labour and ADP Workforce Now) and performing activities that may include

  • Answering inquiries from employees
  • Processing payroll for union and non-union employees, both hourly and salaried
  • Performing labour edits and weekly/bi-weekly payroll processing
  • Assisting with payroll year-end filings
  • Resolving payroll processing issues as needed
  • Supporting ad-hoc reporting
  • Administering Oracle Time & Labour and ADP Workforce Now systems
  • Processing new hires and terminations, including pay, bank information, tax credits, vacation pay, severance, Records of Employment, and other changes/updates
  • Assisting with Record of Employment submissions
  • Supporting employee record adjustments, corrections, incentives, and bonus processing
  • Administering and distributing reports as instructed
  • Communicating with employees and managers regarding timesheet submissions and approvals
  • Delivering instruction and training to employees on payroll systems, including timesheet entry and online pay statement access
  • Collecting and entering data into spreadsheets and the payroll system
  • Building and running custom reports
  • Preparing journal vouchers for payroll, labour, and accruals (both system and manual)
  • Assisting with reconciliation of payroll-related general ledger accounts
  • Processing payments to internal and external organizations (e.g., WSIB, family support)
  • Supporting provincial workers’ compensation payments and returns
  • Maintaining payroll records and storage for auditing purposes
  • Assisting with T4/T4A processing
  • Conducting database queries and generating reports
  • Staying up to date with relevant legislation, including the Income Tax Act and Employment Standards Act
  • Qualifications
  • 2+ years’ payroll experience (Oracle environment an asset)
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving for payroll inquiries
  • Familiar with T4 processing and other government forms
  • Customer service experience
  • Proficient with payroll software and accounting for payroll transactions
  • Quick learner with new systems
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work independently
  • Excellent communication and decision-making skills
  • Payroll certification and/or membership in the National Payroll Institute is desired
  • Education
  • College degree in Business Administration or related field (or equivalent)
  • PCP certification with the National Payroll Institute is desired
  • It is a requirement that General Dynamics Mission Systems-Canada be registered with the Canadian Controlled Goods program and that all of its workforce be security assessed.
