Job Overview
- Reporting to the Executive Director, the Clinical Director brings at least five (5) years’ experience of clinical leadership to an Outpatient virtual clinical team. The Clinical Director will have in-depth experience in the service provision of mental health and addictions treatment in an outpatient setting. The Clinical Director will provide oversight and clinical supervision to the clinical team in Substance- Use Disorder (SUD), Mood and Anxiety (MAP), Workplace Trauma (WT), After Care (AC) and other specialty programs.
- The preferred candidate has proven and effective leadership and clinical skills including crisis management and de-escalation, a commitment to high quality care and patient safety. As well as a thorough understanding of measurement based care and dedication to strong referent relationships.
- Please note that this is an 18-months FT Temp Contract.
Job Function and Duties
- Clinical Responsibilities
- * Provide direct clinical supervision to Clinical Managers, ensuring best practices in addiction treatment, mental health, trauma care, and early recovery aftercare.
- * Collaborate with the National Clinical Team to develop and enhance clinical programs.
- * Support the admissions process by offering clinical oversight and decision-making for complex cases as escalated by the Clinical Managers.
- * Facilitate case conferences for complex clients when required.
- * Work closely with Clinical Managers to ensure effective supervision, crisis intervention, and consistent communication for the clinical teams.
- Program Development
- * Identify opportunities to develop evidence-based curricula and expand programs that align with the organization's mission and strategic goals.
- * Identify gaps and opportunities in treatment services across Canada to better meet client needs.
- * Provide in-house training and explore educational opportunities on clinical issues and best practices.
- Quality Improvement, Policy & Change Management
- * Ensure clinical policies and procedures are in place to support high-quality decision-making and client care.
- * Leverage outcome measurement practices to inform program adjustments and enhancements.
- * Collaborate with Operations and Clinical Managers to audit clinical reporting and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
- * Participate in the development, implementation, and staff training on new policies and procedures.
- * Work with the Operations team to drive quality improvement through change management strategies and the introduction of new processes.
- People and Culture
- * Oversee staffing levels and human resources in collaboration with Clinical Managers.
- * Conduct annual performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback, escalating performance issues to the Executive Director when necessary.
- * Coordinate staff redeployment to maintain the appropriate skill mix.
- * Maintain knowledge of provincial standards of practice, ethics, guidelines, and privacy legislation.
- * Collaborate with the Operations Team on recruitment, staffing, and hiring.
- Referent Relationships
- * Foster strong communication and relationships with internal teams, external partners, and community stakeholders.
- * Identify and inform the Executive Director of potential referral relationships to expand marketing contacts.
- * Collaborate with Business Development and Digital Marketing teams to develop and deliver clinical materials to stakeholders.
- * When escalated, assist with client and referent service recovery and problem-solving.
- Additional Duties
- * Perform other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
- * Master's degree in a regulated health profession required (e.g., Registered Social Worker, Registered Psychotherapist, Registered Nurse, Registered Occupational Therapist).
- * Minimum five years of clinical experience in mental health and addiction.
- * Registered (in good standing) with a regulatory college in any province where a regulatory body exists.
- * Exemplary leadership skills, self-motivation, and the ability to work successfully, both independently and in team settings.
- * Excellent decision-making and problem-solving skills to intervene in critical and complex situations.
- * Ability to navigate ambiguity in a complex and fast-paced environment.
- * Proven success in changing and transforming workplace culture.
- * Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills; working within a collaborative and diverse inter-disciplinary team and referent partnerships.
- * Crisis training and/or de-escalation training considered a strong asset.
- * Expertise in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Seeking Safety, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Trauma-Informed Care.
- * Excellent Computer literacy, including familiarity with MS Office suite, TEAMS, staffing and workload applications.
- * Experience working in a virtual setting is considered an asset.
