• What you will do

Reporting to the Highway Supervisor, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following responsibilities

• performing various highway maintenance and construction work;
• operating and maintaining light construction equipment, including a tandem service truck when required by the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure;
• performing normal maintenance and minor repairs on assigned equipment, preparing, and maintaining work records on the operation of the assigned equipment;
• operating a one-person plow in winter operations and performing other related maintenance tasks;
• ensuring roads are safe for public use through plowing and placing sand and salt on roads.

Work environment

• Office location: Jacksontown/Rockland (Winters in Rockland).
• Work holidays, weekends, shift and/or variable hours.
• May work in adverse road and weather conditions.

Essential qualifications

• Completion of grade ten (10) and a minimum of one (1) year experience in the operation of heavy construction equipment.
• Possession of a valid Class 3 driver’s license as issued by the Province of New Brunswick with endorsement for air brakes.
• An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
• Written and spoken competence in English is required. Please state your language capability.

Asset Qualifications

Preference may be given to candidates that demonstrate the following asset

• One Person Plow certified.
• Please attach a copy of your driver's license with your application.
• Subject to the response to this competition, candidates may be required to demonstrate on their application one or more of the asset qualifications in addition to the essential qualifications in order to be given further consideration.

SALARY

• Operations Worker I: $25.27 per hour, based on a 40-hour week.
