The Operations Supervisor will select, supervise and train employees in their respective positions to ensure safe, professional and efficient service. This individual will provide leadership which results in positive employee/employer relations and a professional corporate image. Why Join TEAM GREEN: Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits (health, vision, and dental) Life insurance and retirement savings options Ongoing learning and development opportunities Career advancement potential within a growing company Team-focused and supportive work environment Key Responsibilities Supervise drivers, heavy equipment operators, and support staff, ensuring training, discipline, and compliance with procedures Partner with HR and Operations Manager on staffing needs, including hiring and performance management Conduct employee reviews, track performance issues, and ensure proper documentation Maintain fair treatment, safety gear, and staffing coverage Oversee daily collection and disposal services for efficiency and customer satisfaction Design and audit routes to maximize productivity and cost-effectiveness Monitor and improve key metrics (fuel usage, turnaround times, missed pickups) Ensure DOT and regulatory compliance Handle service issues and conduct incident investigations Support development of profit plans including revenue growth, cost control, and productivity standards Ensure location meets profit margin targets Promote a proactive safety culture through training, meetings, and observations Investigate accidents and maintain compliance with safety standards Coordinate with vendors and municipal clients Manage asset maintenance and regulatory compliance Perform other duties as assigned Requirements: 3 years supervisory experience. Experience in waste industry desired. Must be able to meet relevant criteria for safety sensitive functions according to Company standards. Must hold a valid commercial driver’s license (Class 3 / 1). Experience operating an excavator, loader and other equipment required. Experience working or supervising (preferred) in a unionized environment. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Excellent leadership, communication and management skills. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, instruction and procedure manuals, routing reports and correspondence Ability to plan, prioritize and execute against tight timelines Intermediate database, spreadsheet and word processing skills within Microsoft or Google Suites Ability to regularly lift/move up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift/move up to 50 pounds Ability to stand, sit, walk, use hands and fingers, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, hear, climb, balance, taste and smell Visual Requirements: include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus Ability to regularly lift/move up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift/move up to 50 pounds Working Conditions: Work in outdoor environment 70% of the time Frequently exposed to loud noise, humidity, hot and cold weather conditions, moving mechanical parts, vibration, toxic and caustic chemicals, fumes and airborne particles At GFL our goal is to invest in our people and provide opportunities to grow, for life!
