We’re looking for an Operations Planning, Engineer-in-Training (EIT). In this role, you will support experienced operations engineers with grid reliability statistics, audits, and reporting. You will also perform transmission and distribution power flow studies to support both planned and unplanned grid switching activities, all under the guidance of senior staff. Major Responsibilities: Examine SCADA operations logs, SCADA loading tables, OMS Outage Management System logs, Field Comments and Operator Logs to support senior staff to calculate reliability statistics. Review transmission and distribution grid model parameters such as impedance, generation and load to perform power flow calculations for senior staff. Studies will be used to analyze planned and unplanned switching activities. Support DA Distribution Automation and Protection and Controls with technical data retrieval and reporting for Senior Staff. Senior on Call accountabilities. Support ENMAX Power during grid events by following the ICS Incident Command Structure. Develop career goals and gain technical and communication skills experience towards APEGA P.Eng. Support ENMAX internal and external data requests for operational information for report writing, business inquiry and analysis. Data includes requests for reliability information, and power flow results. Maintain and update operational procedures that is reviewed by senior engineering staff. Education Required: Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering Registered as an Engineer-in-Training with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) Qualifications & Experience: 0-4 years of experience with directly applicable experience Basic understanding of distribution and transmission power flow and switching operations Experience in reviewing technical log data such as SCADA data and transmission and distribution switching logs Experience in PSSE and CYME would be a preference Competencies: Takes responsibility for tasks or projects and keeps things moving, even when there are challenges or tight deadlines Thinks ahead to spot problems early and comes up with solutions before they become bigger issues Stays focused on the project goals while balancing different needs from others. You will work from home on Mondays and Fridays and in the office on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
