Overview
Join our dynamic team as an Occasional Driver, including some labour, moving and take on a vital role in ensuring smooth transportation and logistical operations. This position offers flexible, on-demand driving opportunities across our commercial vehicles, supporting our ongoing projects and daily operations. As an energetic and motivated driver, you will be responsible for safely transporting goods, equipment, and personnel while maintaining high standards of safety and professionalism. Responsibilities
- Safely operate a commercial vehicle including pick up and enclosed trailer
- Load and unload cargo efficiently using manual handling techniques. Tie down loads safely for travel.
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections to ensure mechanical safety and report any issues promptly.
- Assist with moving heavy or bulky items within warehouses or job sites, ensuring proper handling to prevent damage or injury.
- Support route driving tasks such as shuttle driving or delivery runs as needed, adhering to schedules and traffic regulations.
- Maintain clear communication with team members regarding delivery status, vehicle issues, or route changes.
- Follow all safety protocols related to heavy equipment operation, heavy haul procedures, and commercial vehicle regulations.
Skills
- Proven experience in commercial driving, shuttle driving, or delivery driver roles with knowledge of freight movement.
- Mechanical knowledge to perform basic vehicle maintenance checks and troubleshoot issues.
- Familiarity with operating various types of commercial vehicles including box trucks, flatbeds, tanker trucks, and heavy equipment like forklifts or tow trucks.
- Strong communication skills to coordinate effectively with team members and clients.
- Ability to load & unload cargo safely using pallet jacks or manual techniques; experience with warehouse operations is a plus.
- Knowledge of manual transmission vehicles and heavy haul procedures for specialized transport needs.
- Experience in route driving such as school bus driving, paratransit services, or yard jockey duties is advantageous.
