- Job Description: The Nurse Educator for Children's Subspecialty Programs at JPCH integrates clinical expertise and experience, knowledge of nursing theories as well as principles of teaching and learning, in supporting the educational needs of health care providers with the subspecialty programs within the Pediatric Outpatient Department. The Clinical Nurse Educator facilitates professional development by engaging health care providers in lifelong learning activities to enhance their professional competence and role performance. The Educator will assess learning needs of teams as well as develop, coordinate, implement and evaluate educational activities for health professionals. The clinical educator operates in both the practice and learning environments to meet the demands of the practice setting. To enhance learners competence to achieve and maintain clinical standards, the educator will implement strategies that promote optimal learning and effective translation of knowledge and skills specific to the practice environment. At the core of the professional development process is evidence-base practice, which integrates the highest level of evidence, educational and clinical expertise, to facilitate decision-making.Responsibilities will include general and program specific orientation of new staff, continuing education, and being available to care teams working in pediatric outreach clinics. Collaborating with patients/families and multidisciplinary team members is an expectation to ensure a trauma-informed and patient and family focus approach to care.
