About
We’re looking for an experienced n8n automation specialist with a strong background in Make.com (Integromat) to help migrate existing Make.com scenarios to a self-hosted n8n instance running on our virtual server. This is not a greenfield build. The logic already exists and is well-structured in Make.com. Your role will be to faithfully replicate the workflows in n8n, while improving reliability, maintainability, and performance where appropriate. Some scenarios are moderately to highly complex and include multiple services, iterators, conditionals, webhooks, API calls, error handling, and data transformations. Scope of Work: - Review existing Make.com scenarios - Rebuild workflows in n8n (self-hosted) - Ensure logic parity between Make and n8n - Translate Make concepts such as: - Routers → IF / Switch nodes - Iterators / Aggregators - Webhooks - HTTP requests - Error handling and retries - Optimize workflows where appropriate without changing business logic - Improve error handling and reliability - Make workflows easier to maintain - Test and validate outputs against existing Make.com results - Document improvements and architectural suggestions Required Experience: - Strong experience with n8n - Experience working with self-hosted n8n (Docker / VPS preferred) - Strong experience with Make.com (Integromat) - Ability to read and understand complex Make.com scenarios - Advanced workflow logic (loops, conditionals, expressions) - REST API experience - Strong JSON parsing and data transformation skills - Webhook and HTTP request expertise Nice to Have (Bonus): - Experience migrating automations between platforms - Familiarity with Airtable and CRMs (Ontraport, HubSpot, etc.) - Slack, email, and webhook-based integrations - Ability to suggest architectural improvements in n8n - Clear documentation habits Project Details: - Platform migration: Make.com → n8n - Hosting: Self-hosted n8n on a virtual server - Complexity: Medium to high - Engagement: Initial migration project with potential ongoing work - Communication: Clear, practical, and async-friendly If you have not worked with both Make.com and n8n, this role is likely not a fit. Why This Project Is Interesting: - Existing, well-defined automation logic - No guessing or greenfield rebuilds - Opportunity to improve and modernize automation architecture - Potential for long-term collaboration
