- Job Description
- The Water Business Line of AECOM is actively seeking an enthusiastic and talented Intermediate Civil-Municipal Engineer to design and deliver of critical infrastructure projects for our Victoria, BC office. This role will appeal to someone with strong technical skills, who excels in a collaborative environment and who is looking for an interesting and rewarding career on South Vancouver Island.
- In terms of project delivery, you will have a strong client focus, technical experience in civil engineering and will be familiar with the design and construction of municipal infrastructure. Effective interpersonal and communication skills are valued to support mentoring staff, client management, report writing and proposal preparation.
- You will also have a high level of initiative, motivation, and display drive, energy, and enthusiasm for getting things done in a friendly, fast-paced consulting engineering work environment. You will will be expected to deliver of infrastructure to customers mostly within the municipal water, wastewater, and storm water sector.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to
- Plan, design and oversee construction of municipal infrastructure projects including water, wastewater, and stormwater conveyance facilities.
- May involve design of systems associated with lift stations, pump stations and other mechanical equipment associated with water and wastewater utilities.
- Serve as Engineer-of-Record on small, medium, and potentially large municipal infrastructure projects.
- Assist in coordinating and mentoring junior and intermediate engineering team.
- During construction, support provision of contract administration services, quality control/assurance, adherence to safety policies and procedures, environmental compliance.
- Prepare documentation for design projects and reports.
- Preparation of project specifications and contract documents
- Support client communication and management; proposal preparation; coordination with regulatory agencies; support project planning, budgeting, and scheduling.
- Assist with coordination on multi-disciplinary projects
- Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum 6+ years of related experience with civil engineering, design, and construction inspection
- Experience with municipal water, wastewater or stormwater conveyance and infrastructure
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
- PEng or eligible for registration as P.Eng. in British Columbia
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Valid BC Class V Driver's License and access to a vehicle
- Attention to detail and understanding of the bigger picture
- Strong technical writing skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, contractors, and clients
- Comfortable working in a multi-disciplinary environment.
- Experience in project management is a benefit.
- Experience with MMCD Contract Administration certification is a benefit
- Should have a working knowledge of water / wastewater / stormwater conveyance infrastructure in a Municipal environment
