Our challenge We are seeking a highly skilled MongoDB Developer with extensive experience in NoSQL and SQL databases to design, develop, and optimize data solutions that support our business needs. The successful candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams to build scalable, high-performance data architectures, manage large datasets, and ensure seamless data migrations and integrations. Additional Information* The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Halifax, NS is CAD $90k – CAD $100k/year & benefits (see below). The Role Responsibilities: Design, develop, and maintain MongoDB data schemas, collections, and databases aligned with business requirements. Work with SQL databases to develop and optimize complex queries, stored procedures, and reports. Collaborate with teams to implement data migration, synchronization, mapping, and modeling strategies. Manage, tune, and optimize performance for large, complex datasets to ensure fast response times and system efficiency. Write high-performance, scalable queries and ensure efficient data retrieval. Develop and maintain data pipelines, ETL processes, and workflows for data ingestion and transformation. Use Kafka, Solace, or similar messaging systems for real-time data streaming and integration. Build and optimize APIs and graph data models for complex data relationships. Manage in-memory caching with Redis to improve application performance. Optimize search capabilities and analytics using Elastic Search (a plus). Monitor database health, troubleshoot issues, and perform necessary performance tuning. Stay updated with industry best practices related to NoSQL, database performance, and data security. Requirements: Experience: Minimum of 5+ years working with MongoDB and NoSQL databases. SQL Skills: At least 5+ years of experience writing and optimizing SQL queries. Redis: 1-2 years of hands-on experience with Redis. Data Streaming: Practical experience working with Kafka and/or Solace. Data Management: Strong background in data synchronization, migration, mapping, and modeling. Performance Tuning: Proven ability to manage, performance tune, and optimize large datasets. Query Development: Capable of writing high-performance, scalable queries. Graph & API: Experience with graph databases/models and developing RESTful APIs. Data Pipelines: Expertise in building and optimizing data pipelines. Elastic Search: Experience with Elastic Search is a plus. Tools & Technologies: Familiarity with cloud platforms, containerization, and CI/CD pipelines is advantageous. Preferred, but not required: Strong understanding of distributed data systems and architecture. Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments. Knowledge of security best practices for data handling.
