Position Title: Manager – TKDN Lands and Resources
Reports To: Director of Lands and Resources / Senior Advisor
Department: Lands and Resources
Position Type: Full Time permanent
Hours of Work: Monday to Friday (8 hours per day / 40 hours per week based on office hours – flexible based on travel and field)
SUMMARY
This position will include working out of the Tsay Keh Dene Nation’s Prince George office, in the main community of Tsay Keh Dene, and time in the field within Tsay Keh Dene Nation territory.
Responsibilities include overseeing all programs and coordinating with managers from collaborating programs and departments.
Program management includes the following:
- Lands
- Forestry
- Mining and Exploration
- Fish and Wildlife
- Environmental Monitoring
- TKDN Archive
- Coordinating with the Lands and Resources Language and Culture Manager
This position will supervise office staff both in the Prince George office and in the main community of Tsay Keh Dene. Other responsibilities include collaboration on work planning, budgeting, reporting, travel, engagement with Nation membership, and Elders of the Tsay Keh Dene Nation. Other related duties may be assigned by the Director of Lands and Resources or the Senior Advisor.

REFERRAL MANAGEMENT
- Manage all referrals with the Lands and Resources Department coordinators and
report to the Director or Senior Advisor

PROJECT MANAGEMENT AND COORDINATION
- Coordinate scheduled programming and oversee communications within the
department
- Mentor and manage all field staff on the territory
- Perform other tasks as required or directed
- Be able and ready to go into the field when required
ADMINISTRATION
- Work with Director of Lands or Senior Advisor, and Finance on preparing program
budgets and tracking updates
- Supervise the Lands Assistant to ensure all administrative tasks are operational
- Track and report program budgets and report to Director or Senior Advisor
- Support programs and the implementation of projects from strategic financial and
internal control perspectives
- Carry out general clerical and administrative duties
- Manage and oversee the filling of all appropriate documents and record systems
- Deal with correspondence – including writing of return correspondence
- Liaise with relevant stakeholders to support key responsibility areas
- Perform other related duties assigned by the lands Director or Senior Advisor
SUPERVISION
- Supervise all office staff both in the Prince George and in the Tsay Keh Dene
offices
- Orientate and onboard new lands hires ensuring all required training is booked and
completed
- Track performance of all staff and assist Director or Senior Advisor with reviews
- Follow HR and reporting policies with all staff members
REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum undergraduate degree in natural resource management or related field
- College Diploma in a related field
- 2-3 years of experience in Lands & Resource management
- Experience with Microsoft excel and word
- Experience working with First Nation people in field of natural resources is an asset
- Experience in project and staff management
- Experience with report writing and communications
- Experience with budget management
- A valid Driver’s License is required
- Able to be flexible with schedule and meet travel expectations on a project to
project basis

SUMMARY
The Language and Culture Manager provides leadership, and oversight for all language revitalization and cultural programming for Tsay Keh Dene Nation. Reporting to the Director of Lands and Resources or Senior Advisor, the Manager will work closely with Elders, Knowledge Keepers, the Language and Culture Committee, community members, and coordinate programming with the Lands Manager to promote the preservation, revitalization, and active use of the traditional language and practices.
This position is responsible for developing and following work plans, long-term goals, budgeting and securing funding, managing staff, overseeing program delivery, and ensuring that all initiatives align with community values, cultural protocols, and strategic priorities. Regular travel to Tsay Keh Dene is required to support community-based activities, such as culture camps, mandated events, and general programming.

JOB DUTIES
· Lead the implementation of the Language and Culture WPs, and evaluate language and culture strategies and program performance.
· Collaborate with the Language & Culture Committee and Elders to ensure cultural protocols and traditional knowledge guide initiatives.
· Oversee the delivery of language and culture programming such as APP development, curriculum development and collaboration, culture camps, community events, etc.
· Support the development of language teaching materials and resource tools.
· Ensure alignment of programing with outlined strategic goals, cross departmental collaborations, mandated initiatives, etc.
ADMINISTRATION
· Supervise Language and Culture Coordinator and other program staff or contractors.
· Manage work plans, timelines, and reporting systems.
· Ensure proper documentation, archiving, and organization of program materials.
· Participate in department meetings, provide reports, and contribute to planning sessions.
· Maintain confidentiality and professional standards.
· Develop and monitor program budgets in collaboration with the Lands Director or Senior Advisor, and Finance team.
· Identify and pursue funding opportunities, including proposal writing and reporting for grants.
· Oversee procurement of supplies, materials, and contracts related to language and culture programming.
COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
· Work collaboratively with Tsay Keh Dene Elders, youth, and families to foster intergenerational knowledge sharing.
· Build partnerships with educational institutions, Indigenous organizations, and cultural resource experts.
· Represent the Nation at external language and cultural events, conferences, and working groups.
QUALIFICATIONS
· Diploma or Degree in Indigenous Studies, Education, Cultural Anthropology, Language Revitalization, or related field.
· 3–5 years of experience in cultural or language programming, preferably in an Indigenous community setting.
· Experience in leadership, project management, or supervisory roles.
· Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
· Strong understanding of Indigenous language revitalization principles and practices.
· Familiarity with the Tsek’ene language or a demonstrated commitment to learning.
· Experience working with Elders and community advisory groups.
· Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
· Grant writing and financial management experience.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data/document management systems.
· Ability to travel to community regularly and work occasional evenings or weekends.

Pay: $72,800.00-$83,200.00 per year
