About
Who We Are
- KEV builds mission-critical financial software for K12 schools across North America. Our platform provides real-time visibility and control over how funds are collected and managed, replacing fragmented workflows with secure, modern systems that schools rely on every day.
- Trusted by more than 27,000 K12 schools managing over $8B annually, KEV delivers mission-critical software for payments, accounting, and reporting, where reliability and security matter. Headquartered in Toronto with teams across North America, we are scaling quickly and investing deeply in cloud-native, data-driven technology.
- KEV is a place for people who care about building durable software at scale and doing work that has real impact in public education. We focus on solving hard problems, raising the bar on engineering craft, and building products that earn long-term trust from the communities we serve.
- About the Role
- We are hiring a Manager, Software Engineering to lead two product-focused engineering teams within KEV’s fundraising portfolio—products that directly support how schools raise and manage critical funds.
- The first team owns LunchBox, our school lunch ordering solution used daily by schools to support fundraising and meal operations at scale. The second team will build and scale KEV’s Fundraising Platform, enabling campaign management and web stores that power student clubs, sports teams, and extracurricular activities across thousands of schools.
- This is a senior people-leadership role for an experienced SaaS engineering manager who thrives in growth environments. You will own delivery and execution across multiple teams, scale engineering practices as products mature, and partner closely with Product and Design to shape the next phase of KEV’s fundraising capabilities. This role offers meaningful ownership, real product complexity, and the opportunity to lead teams building software with visible impact.
- How You’ll Contribute
- Engineering Leadership: Lead and develop two product-focused engineering teams with clear accountability for delivery, quality, and team health. Set expectations, coach effectively, and build strong engineers as the teams scale.
- Delivery Ownership: Own execution across the LunchBox and Fundraising Platform teams, translating priorities into clear plans and predictable outcomes. Establish strong operating rhythms, manage dependencies, and remove friction to keep teams focused and delivering consistently.
- Product Partnership: Partner closely with Product Management to shape scope, sequencing, and trade-offs. Ensure work is well-defined, progress is visible, and teams deliver high-quality software that creates meaningful value for schools and fundraising programs.
- Agile Practices: Lead teams operating in Agile environments, strengthening planning, estimation, and delivery discipline while keeping the focus on outcomes over process.
- Quality and Reliability: Ensure quality, reliability, and security are built into the development lifecycle through strong engineering and testing practices and a clear shift-left mindset.
- DevOps and Production Readiness: Support strong DevOps practices across the teams, ensuring CI/CD pipelines, deployment processes, and operational standards enable reliable releases. Partner with platform and operations teams to improve release readiness, observability, and production stability.
- Technical Leadership: Provide technical leadership for teams working with React, .NET, and API-driven microservice architectures on Azure, balancing delivery speed, quality, and long-term maintainability while supporting scalable, secure solutions.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Product, QA, Support, and engineering peers to ensure alignment, surface risks early, and drive smooth execution across teams.
