  • Manager, Information Technology
  • Position Summary
  • The Manager, Information Technology is responsible for the effective operation and continuous improvement of information technology (IT) services and support across the organization. This includes overseeing IT project management, supporting the development and execution of strategic planning, fostering innovation, managing resources, maintaining vendor relations, and supervising technical staff.
  • This position provides leadership, guidance, and oversight of both strategic and operational IT matters but does not hold sole accountability for IT strategy. Instead, the Manager supports and informs strategic planning while ensuring operational excellence and risk management.
  • The Manager, Information Technology, retains overall accountability for IT service delivery, alignment with organizational goals, and fostering skill development within the IT team.
  • As part of the Business Services team, the Manager supports the development and implementation IT strategies and tactical planning, identifies opportunities for technology enhancements, and leads initiatives that improve efficiency, security, compliance, and digital capability within Homeward Trust.
  • Duties & Responsibilities
  • Strategic Leadership & Innovation
  • Support the development and implementation of IT strategies that align with organizational priorities.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on IT trends, systems improvements, and technology risk mitigation.
  • Champion innovation and continuous improvement across all technology areas.
  • Evaluate, modify, and establish information systems policies and procedures based on best practices.
  • IT Governance & Oversight
  • Manage core aspects of Homeward Trust’s computer and information systems, ensuring alignment with business needs.
  • Develop and enforce policies to ensure data privacy, cybersecurity, and IT compliance.
  • Maintain disaster recovery and business continuity protocols.
  • Proactively monitor technology risks and maintain a risk mitigation framework to address compliance, security, and organizational exposure.
  • Team Management & Delegation
  • Supervise and support the System Administrator, who manages foundational IT tasks, system monitoring, and first-line support.
  • Ensure the System Administrator has a clear and empowered role in bridging operational IT activities with leadership oversight.
  • Encourage and foster leadership development and skill progression within the IT team.
  • Delegate advanced technical responsibilities to the System Administrator where appropriate, while retaining accountability for outcomes.
  • Operational & Project Management
  • Plan and manage IT projects, ensuring timelines, budgets, and objectives are met.
  • Collaborate with departments to integrate effective IT services and support their operational needs.
  • Liaise with vendors and service providers to negotiate cost-effective solutions and manage service contracts.
  • Infrastructure & System Administration
  • Maintain a license register of all software and ensure compliance with software usage policies.
  • Oversee internal security systems and safeguard organizational data.
  • Support the administration and optimization of ERP/CRM platforms such as Efforts to Outcomes™ (ETO), while ensuring clear role differentiation from the System Administrator.
  • Other Duties
  • Mentor, train, and evaluate IT staff.
  • Communicate IT developments and changes clearly to staff and stakeholders.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
  • Qualifications
  • Education & Experience
  • Degree or diploma in computer science, information technology or related discipline.
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in an IT leadership role.
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in system administration, IT operations, and project delivery.
  • Experience working in not-for-profit or social service sectors is considered an asset.
  • Equivalencies in formal education and experience will be considered.
  • Knowledge Skills & Abilities
  • Strong leadership, people management, and mentoring skills.
  • Ability to translate technical concepts into accessible language for non-technical audiences.
  • Solid understanding of IT governance, policies, and compliance.
  • Experience in database administration (e.g., SQL), ERP/CRM platforms, and reporting tools (e.g., SAP Business Objects).
  • Technical knowledge of web technologies (e.g., PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript), and data integration frameworks (e.g., ETL tools) is an asset.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and adapt to change.
  • Successful completion of a criminal record background check is required.
