POSITION FUNCTION:

 

The M&A Business Development Associate will spearhead the company's internal M&A sourcing to expand both geographically and enhance its service offering and capabilities in existing markets. The Associate will work alongside the EVP of Strategy and M&A in identifying, evaluating, and acquiring the businesses necessary to meet its strategic objectives in close collaboration with the senior leadership team.  This is a remote opportunity.

 

Primary Roles and Responsibilities Include:

  • Identify and engage potential acquisition targets through cold calls, emails, networking, and industry.
  • Own the top-of-funnel M&A process: generate leads, qualify targets, and set meetings with owners or executives.
  • Build and maintain a robust pipeline of acquisition opportunities using internal CRM.
  • Maintain detailed records of outreach, conversations, and follow-ups for systematic pipeline development.
  • Collaborate with the M&A and executive team to refine outreach strategies and target criteria.
  • Monitor industry trends and competitor activity to identify new sectors or companies of interest.
  • Represent the company professionally in communications with business owners, advisors, intermediaries, and at tradeshow events.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or related field
  • 2-5 years of experience in business development, sales, private equity sourcing, investment banking, or M&A deal origination (Services industry exposure preferred).
  • Comfortable and confident with cold calling and reaching out to C-level executives or business owners.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport quickly.
  • Proficiency with CRM tools (Pipedrive / Salesforce preferred) and a proactive approach to follow-up and lead management.
  • Self-starter mentality with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Detail-oriented and organized; you know how to keep your pipeline tight and your data clean.
  • Prior experience with M&A, private equity, or a financial background is a plus but not required.
  • Approximately 20% travel is required.

Successful completion of a drug test and pre-employment background screening is required. MVR checks are required for all driving positions.
