Job Description: Position Purpose summary: The Christmas Kettle Campaign Coordinator work is focused on ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of the Kettle Campaign, maximizing volunteers and donations and ensuring competent and compliant Kettle Coverage for all areas. The Salvation Army Christmas Kettle Campaign is part of a century old tradition to contribute towards building strong communities by helping TSA to give hope to others. Kettle Coordinator position is a short-term contract position. The incumbent is responsible for oversight of several Christmas Kettle locations in a given geographical zone area. Zone locations include shopping malls, grocery stores and retail outlets. Key Accountabilities: The incumbent may perform all, some, or similar range of duties. Attend a day of training/orientation on The Salvation Army and the Christmas Kettle Campaign Provide support in getting Kettles to zone locations prior to volunteer arrival at Campaign onset Ensure all Kettle donations are delivered to secure location at shift completion Communicate daily issues and supply deficiencies to Fundraising Coordinator Orient and remind volunteers regarding proper Kettle handling and duties as required Supervise, support and assign (as required) Kettle Volunteers throughout the Campaign Participate in the recruitment of new volunteers Visit locations during shift changes and intermittently Communicate daily with ATL partner for effective transition Respond to questions/queries from potential donors regarding SA ministries and programs. Assist with the reception of full kettles at the end of the day. Perform other work-related duties as assigned. CRITICAL RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT Governance Boards and Councils: n/a Internal: TSA staff members, Kettle campaign team External: Community members MANAGERIAL RESPONSIBILITY: Reports directly to the Operations Manager. Direct reports: none FINANCIAL AND MATERIALS MANAGEMENT: • Collect donations and petty cash and ensure donations are always kept secure. The above responsibilities must be discharged in accordance with The Salvation Army’s Mission Statement, in a professional manner, upholding our code of conduct. Working Conditions: Work environment is typically in office environment Education, Qualifications and Certifications: Willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities. Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Army’s health and safety policies and procedures. Alternative combination of education and Experience may be considered. Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements Some high school coursework, completion of high school is an asset Experience One year of related experience or working in customer service Skills and Capabilities Money handling experience is an asset Related experience is an asset Valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle required Enthusiastic Team Player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills Able to lift 9 to 12 kgs (20 – 25 lbs) Strong customer service skills; enjoy liaising and working with people of all ages and abilities Willingness to be flexible and work well under pressure with daily timelines and changing priorities Ability to maintain strict confidentiality in the handling of donor, volunteer, and organizational information Ability and willingness to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion (i.e., The Salvation Army Abuse Registry) and provide an original copy of a Background Check screening. Compensation: The target hiring range for this position is $17.85 to $19.69 with a maximum of $23.63. Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
