Start-to-Finish Accountability: Inspect, diagnose, repair, road-test, and communicate repair needs directly with operators for full transparency and efficiency.
Parts & Tool Management: Assist in monitoring inventory, safeguarding tools and equipment, and maintaining an organized, efficient workspace.
Responsibilities
What You’ll Be Tackling: Keeping Everything Running Smoothly
Reporting directly to the Lead Mechanic, you’ll be the go-to professional for inspecting, servicing, installing, and repairing our full fleet of vehicles and equipment. No two days look the same — here’s a snapshot of what your work will involve:
Technical Diagnosis & Problem-Solving: Step into the role of shop troubleshooter. You’ll analyze work orders, perform road tests, and use diagnostic equipment — combined with hands-on expertise — to uncover mechanical and electrical issues in engines, transmissions, steering and suspension systems, brake assemblies, and complex electronic controls.
Major Repairs & System Rebuilds: Take ownership of both minor repairs and full-scale overhauls. You’ll repair, tune, and rebuild diesel and gasoline engines, powertrains, generators, HVAC systems, and hydraulic components, as well as handle drivetrain calibrations and wheel-related adjustments.
Preventive Maintenance & Performance Optimization: Ensure peak fleet readiness by conducting scheduled inspections, performing tune-ups, and executing preventative maintenance plans — including monthly fleet-wide evaluations to help reduce breakdowns and keep operations running efficiently.
Light Bodywork & Mobile Support: Carry out small-scale body repairs such as windshield and bumper replacements, and assist with mobile service calls to get vehicles safely back in service when issues arise on the road.
Safety, Organization & Documentation: Champion safe work habits by maintaining a clean, organized shop environment, using PPE correctly, and entering accurate records for each repair, inspection, and maintenance procedure to support compliance and traceability.
Qualifications
What You’ll Bring to the Role
Certified Journeyperson: You must have proven hands-on experience as a journey-level automotive and/or heavy-truck fleet mechanic, along with eligibility to maintain annual certification as an official vehicle inspection technician.
Specialized Technical Strengths: Expertise in areas such as electrical systems, HVAC, hydraulics, pneumatics, or advanced mechanical repair will give you a strong advantage.
Education Requirement: A high school diploma or equivalent is essential.
Fundamental Competencies: Solid reading, math, and communication abilities, strong hand-eye coordination, and the capacity to interpret written and verbal instructions accurately.
Physical Capability: Comfortable lifting up to 50 lbs on a regular basis and occasionally moving loads up to 75 lbs as needed.
Valid Driver’s License: A current, unrestricted driver’s license is required for this role.
