We are seeking an Intermediate Data Engineer to play a key role in modernizing the reporting environment by focusing on building and maintaining robust data ingestion and transformation pipelines within the Microsoft Fabric/Azure Cloud ecosystem. This position is central to enhancing data availability, readiness, and reliability across the organization, directly supporting the objective of generating reports in a timely and reliable manner. The ideal candidate will be a collaborative problem-solver with proven skills in ELT development, optimization, and documentation. This is a Hybrid role based in Toronto, requiring three (3) days onsite per week.

As an Intermediate Data Engineer, you will be responsible for:
- Designing, building, and maintaining scalable and reliable ELT (Extract, Load, Transform) pipelines on the Microsoft Azure Cloud/Fabric platform.
- Designing, developing, and optimizing complex Python and SQL queries for data processing and transformation.
- Maintaining orchestration workflows and ensuring both real-time and batch data processes meet defined performance expectations.
- Collaborating with architects, analysts, and stakeholders to define technical requirements and contributing to the end-to-end implementation of data solutions in an enterprise environment.
- Assisting in creating and maintaining high-quality technical documentation, including Architecture Diagrams, Solution Documents, and detailed descriptions of ETL processes, business rules, and transformations.
- Designing and implementing CI/CD practices and ensuring developed solutions adhere to data management standards, security, and privacy controls in collaboration with governance teams.
- Conducting thorough analysis of existing reporting systems and processes, identifying areas for improvement, and contributing to the design of the modernized reporting framework.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Data Engineer focused on building and maintaining scalable data ingestion and transformation pipelines.
- Strong practical experience with Microsoft Azure Cloud/Fabric data services (e.g., Data Factory, Synapse Analytics, Data Lake).
- Proficiency in designing, developing, and optimizing complex SQL queries.
- Proficiency in a relevant programming language, preferably Python, for data manipulation and scripting.
- Experience with ELT methodologies and data pipeline orchestration workflows.
- Working knowledge of CI/CD principles and implementation for data solutions.
- Experience creating and maintaining technical documentation, including data models and architecture diagrams.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and collaboration skills to work with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
