Role Summary The Project Engineer is a pivotal hybrid role that requires a strong foundation in Electrical or Electronic Engineering coupled with exceptional project management skills. This individual will be responsible for the full lifecycle management of new and existing heating and cooling system upgrades, ensuring technical accuracy, timely execution, budget adherence, and quality control from initial design to final commissioning. Key Responsibilities Project Management (50%) Planning & Execution: Develop comprehensive project plans, including scope definition, resource allocation, scheduling, and risk management for system installations and upgrades. Budget & Schedule Control: Monitor project progress against timelines and budgets, identifying potential delays or cost overruns and implementing corrective actions. Documentation: Maintain rigorous documentation of project activities, changes, specifications, and approvals. Engineering & Technical Oversight (50%) System Design & Review: Apply Electrical or Electronic Engineering principles to review, specify, and ensure the correct integration of complex HVAC/hydronic components, controls, and electrical infrastructure (e.g., heat pump wiring, control panels, sensor placement). Problem-Solving: Diagnose and resolve technical issues encountered during design, installation, and commissioning, particularly those related to electrical systems and controls. Component Specification: Select and validate electrical components, sensors, and control systems, focusing on performance, efficiency, and reliability. Required Qualifications and Skills Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electronic Engineering (or a closely related field). Experience: Proven professional experience in an engineering role with demonstrable project management responsibilities (e.g., leading technical projects, managing vendors, scheduling). Technical Acumen: Strong working knowledge of electrical systems, wiring diagrams, control panels, and troubleshooting for industrial or commercial equipment. Soft Skills: Exceptional organizational, leadership, and communication skills, with an ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced technical environment. Preferred (Bonus) Qualifications Industry Knowledge (HVAC): Knowledge and experience with Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems, particularly central boilers, heat pumps (air-to-water/geothermal), and hydronic systems. Design Tools (AutoCAD): Proficiency in using AutoCAD or similar CAD software for reviewing, modifying, and creating technical drawings, layouts, and schematics.
